NATIONAL POLICE RECORD CHECK
FOR VOLUNTEERS MADE EASY
Below are step-by-step instructions on the police check process for Corps and Social Programmes in TAS
Contact the Divisional Volunteer Resources Coordinator or TAS Police to be emailed a soft copy of the National Police Check application form. Or simply go to: http://www.police.tas.gov.au.s3.amazonaws.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/08/Amended-Consent-Form-for-priors-24072017.pdf
Print and ask the volunteer (applicant) to fill in the National Police Record Check application form. Ensure that the volunteer has certified copies of ID to equal the 100 points ID check.
** NB any TSA Officer who is a licensed marriage celebrant can certify these documents.
Complete the National Police Record Check application and be sure to follow the tips below for filling out the application!
Results may take up to ten working days, assuming that all required documentation is sent through initially. A volunteer cannot commence their role before the result of their check has been received and assessed.
If there are no disclosables once the Police Check has been received, the reference number and issue date must be recorded in the Volunteer Management System (VMS). You must enter the police check number and expiry date immediately. The Police check will then be passed on to the volunteer.
** No hard copy is to be kept and is to be deleted after the police check number and expiry date is recorded.
In the event of a disclosable, please contact the VR Coordinator for assistance in completing a Risk Assessment. The VR Coordinator involved is set to review and complete the risk assessment form. After this, it will be decided if the volunteer is appropriate for the role.
