About the College :New Horizon College of Engineering (NHCE), established in 2001, a unit of the New Horizon Educational and Cultural Trust, offers quality education in both Engineering and Management programs. The college is permanently affiliated to Visvesvaraya Technological University (VTU), Belagavi, approved by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), New Delhi. NHCE has the prestigious accreditation of NBA, NAAC with ‘A’ Grade. It is ISO 9001:2008 certified Institution, NHCE has also reached one more milestone by achieving Autonomous Status from the Academic Year 2015-16 by VTU and Government of Karnataka.NHCE has made efforts to provide an unique platform to showcase the innovative and creative skills of our budding engineers across the country in general and Karnataka in particular to demonstrate their engineering projects during the “Inter – Collegiate Project Exhibition – TecHorizon 2019” which have been the real manifestation of future entrepreneurs / technopreneurs.

About the Department :The Department of Biotechnology is accredited by National Board of Accreditation (NBA). Biotechnology as a domain is well known for being highly inter and multi disciplinary in nature. It encompasses wide array of subjects ranging from Basic Biology to highly advanced technologies of Genetic Engineering, Clinical research and data management, Biosimulation, Nano Technology. Its vastness and depth is now well recognized in betterment of human health, plant and animal welfare, restoration and improvement in environment and societal quality embedded for a better tomorrow. Resting on such enormous scope of Biotechnology, and with a mission to produce domain specific capable engineers, Department of Biotechnology at NHCE was set up in the year 2002 with an intake of 60 under BE Biotechnology programme. Eventually, in the year 2008; it had been successful to earn the recognition of VTU Recognized Research Centre (renewed annually), leading to award of PhD in Biotechnology. Department of Biotechnology is now synonymous to appreciable platforms for excellent learning, researching and growing along with meaningfully contributing and emerging in the placement, research, publications, consultancy and IP generation. It sets the right chord for research scholars and BE students" research works. The dedicated team of faculty remains bubbling with energy and ideas to propel with equally competent students" team. Outcomes of this synergy are reflected in earning VTU ranks, reporting discoveries and other IPRs, quality publications, awards, and presentations while securing consistent results and funding for students" projects from Govt. ofKamataka, generating sizeable consultancy. A few noteworthy features of the department are best-inclass placement and progression earned by students and the start-ups/ entrepreneurial debuts.

About TecHorizon'19:TecHorizon'19 is an organized presentation and display of models/working projects competition. It is the idea of sharing knowledge. It is also an endeavor to foster and enhance the culture of scientific inquiry and its relevance in real world applications and underline the strong connection among student community. The TecHorizon'19 will motivate the students to a whole new level as they demonstrate their projects to other students, representatives from Institutes, industry etc. getting their views, reviews & appreciations.
