N O T I F I C A T I O N

The National Law University Delhi has announced the AILET-2020 result for

admission to LL.M. Programme for the Academic Year 2020-21 on October 4, 2020.

The category wise list of candidates invited to participate in the online counselling

process is attached herewith at Annexure-A. The detailed guidelines for counselling

process are attached at Annexure-B. The counselling process for the LL.M. shall

commence at 2.00 pm on October 7, 2020.

October 6, 2020

Initially at the time of admission notification for the academic year 2020-21, NLU Delhi

announced 50% Horizontal Reservation for the students from Delhi for admission to

the B.A.LL.B.(Hons.) and LL.M. Programmes across the categories with the

implementation of OBC (22%) & EWS (10%) reservation.

The decision of University for providing reservation for students from Delhi was

challenged in the Hon’ble High Court of Delhi through W.P. (C) 3454/2020, Balvinder

Singh Sangwan & Ors. v. State (GNCT) of Delhi through Chief Secretary & Ors.

The Hon’ble High Court of Delhi on 29th June, 2020 has ordered that the “status quo

ante as of previous academic year shall be maintained for making admissions to the

B.A., LL.B. (Hons.) (Five Year Programme) and the LL.M. (One Year Programme) in

NLU Delhi for the academic year 2020-21”.

Subsequent to the orders passed by Hon’ble High Court of Delhi, the seat matrix is

accordingly rolled back. In view of the Judgment of the High Court of Delhi, the

following mapping has been done:

The University offer specialization in LL.M. Programme. However, depending

upon the minimum numbers of students (10 students), availability of subject

teacher(s) and other conditions, the University may or may not offer any

particular specialization. The candidates taking admission to the Programme

shall have to keep these conditions in mind.

▪ It may be noted that due to space constraints, the National Law University Delhi

will not provide the Hostel facilities to any student (male or female) admitted in

the LL.M. Programme.

ONLINE COUNSELLING PROCESS

This year the counselling for admission to the University will be completely online.

▪ The candidates are required to upload the following documents in order

while registering for the online counselling process. Therefore be ready

with these documents before 7th October 2020:

a. Self-attested copy of B.A.LL.B.(Hons.)/LL.B or equivalent Examination (in

case result is awaited, the declaration at Annexure-II, needs to submit

b. Self-attested Marks Statement of X and XII Class Examination or equivalent

Examination.

c. Self-attested copy of Character Certificate from the institution last attended.

d. Valid category certificate (PwD/ SC/ ST/ OBC/EwS/ and KM etc.) if applied

under these categories. The OBC-non-creamy layer certificate should be

issued on or after 1st January 2020.

a. Any other supporting document to claim your seat for the category you have

applied.

▪ Counselling Fee of ₹50,000/- to be paid through Digital Payment methods like

Credit/ Debit Card, Net-banking, UPI, RTGS/NEFT

▪ Candidates selected for provisional admission will be expected to pay

₹ 63,000/- /- as balance fee to be paid through Digital Payment methods like

Credit/ Debit Card, Net-banking, UPI, RTGS/NEFT

Candidates will be required to login to their Application Locker at

https://nludelhi.admissionhelp.com/

▪ Step 1: Viewing the AILET 2020 Result

- The candidates shall login to their application locker where their AILET marks

shall be available.

▪ Step 2: Paying the Counselling Fee

- Candidates shall login to their Application Locker, click on Pay Counselling

Fees. On the following page, they have to upload applicable documents and

enter their LL.B or equivalent examination percentage of marks secured.

- Then the candidate needs to click on ‘Pay Now’. The candidate will be taken

to the online payment gateway and will complete the transaction for counselling

fee of ₹ 50000/-.

▪ After the counselling process, candidates selected for provisional admission will be

then required to pay Balance fee of ₹ 63,000/- through online payment. They shall

be issued acknowledgment slip.

▪ To be eligible to appear for admission to One year- LL.M. Programme, a candidate

should have passed the LL.B or an equivalent degree from a recognised University

with not less than 55% marks in aggregate (50% in case of reserved categories,

i.e. SC/ST/Persons with Disability).

▪ The online counselling process will start w.e.f. October 7, 2020. The University

will invite three times the number of candidates corresponding to number of

seats in each category to participate in the online counselling process. The list

of candidates who have been invited for registration for the online counselling

will be uploaded on the University website in order of AILET merit on October

6, 2020. All such candidates are required to deposit their counselling fee within

stipulated time period. They are also required to provide total percentage of

marks secured by them in LL.B or equivalent examination. In the event of non-

declaration of the result, the candidate shall sign an undertaking in the

prescribed proforma-Annexure-II.

a. The candidates with higher percentage of marks in BA.LL.B./LL.B. will be

higher in merit.

b. In case the result of B.A.LL.B./LL.B. is awaited, the candidate with higher

percentage of marks in graduation degree will be higher in merit. In case of

candidates pursuing five years integrated degree programme, the

percentage of marks in first three years will be taken in to consideration.

c. In case the percentage of marks at graduation level is also same, the

candidates with higher percentage of marks in 12th standard will be higher

in merit. The marks of best five subjects will be taken into consideration for

working out the percentage.


d. In case the percentage of marks in 12th standard is also same, then the

candidate with higher percentage of marks in 10th standard will be higher in

merit.

e. In case all the above scores are equal, the candidate with senior in age will

be higher in merit.

f. The University will issue a category wise provisional merit list of only those

candidates who have successfully completed the counselling registration

process and paid the counselling fee of ₹ 50000/- within stipulated time

period. Registration for the counselling will not guarantee you a seat.

g. If a candidate’s name is in the List of provisionally selected candidates, the

candidate is required to pay the balance fee within stipulated time period

failing which provisional admission offer will automatically stand cancelled

& counselling fee paid will be forfeited. The balance fee shall be paid

through the same portal/interface through the same login via which,

candidates have participated in the counselling process. The University will

also issue category wise waiting list of only those candidates who have

participated in the counselling process. In case any vacancy arises due to

withdrawal of admission or non-deposit of balance fee by the provisionally

selected candidate within the stipulated time period, the seat shall be filled

up from the waiting list candidates of concerned categories only.

h. Requests for payment of fee after the last date will not be considered in any

circumstance. Candidates are advised not to wait till last minute to make

payments, to avoid payment related issues. NLU Delhi will not be

responsible for any issues relating to payments. You must wait till you see

a ‘Payment Successful’ message & acknowledgment slip generated.

Requests to make payments after last date due to transaction failures or

any other issues will not be considered.

▪ Considering the COVID-19 situation, the University has already rationalized the

fee structure for the academic year 2020-21. No further reduction in fee shall

be considered during the counselling & admission process. The details of the

rationalized fee payable by the candidates is attached as Annexure-I.


▪ The University will refund the counselling fee of only such candidates who have

successfully registered for the counselling process and paid the counselling fee

but due to higher cut off could not find place in the provisional merit list of the

respective categories for admission. The University will initiate the said refund

after October 25, 2020 or on completion of admission process whichever is

earlier.
