An applicant desirous of seeking admission to Ph.D. Programmes (Ayurveda) at National Institute of

Ayurveda (NIA) Deemed-to-be University Jaipur for Academic Session 2021-2022 must read the

contents of this Information Brochure carefully.

Changes made in the Program after the release of this BoI shall become effective with immediate

effect unless stated otherwise.

NIA reserves the rights to revise, amend, update or delete any part of this Brochure without giving any

prior notice or reason. Any change so made shall be updated on the website of the NIA i.e.

1.2 Admission Procedure

1.2.1 Forms Submission through registered/speed post or in person

1.2.1.1 The candidates seeking admission to the Ph.D. Programme are required to apply

through a pre specified application format available with the brochure

along with the receipt of the online payment and the required documents shall be

submitted to Registrar, National Institute of Ayurveda Deemed to be University (De-

novo) through registered/speed post or in person on or before the last date of form

submission till 5:00 PM. Form received after the last date shall not be entertained.

1.2.2 Forms Submission through email [email protected]

1.2.2.1 The candidate can also send the scanned copy of filled in application form along with

all the required documents as single pdf on email [email protected] on or

before the last date of form submission till 5:00 PM. Candidates must ensure that the

form submitted through email should be as single pdf document. Separate pdf

documents of a single candidate will not be accepted. The candidate must bring the

original copy of the completely filled application form physically at the time of

interview along with the copies of the document.

signature.

1.2.2.3 Final scanned pdf document should be named as – SubjectName_FullName of the

Candidate, Example- AgadTantra_RaviKumar

1.2.3 Admission to Ph.D. Programme is through entrance examination, followed by an interview.

1.2.4 On the basis of entrance examination merit will be declared and 3 students from the merit

against each seat will be shortlisted for the interview.

1.2.5 Admission of UGC-NET/JRF/SLET/AYUSH-NET/CSIR-NET qualified candidates will be

through interview. Separate interview as per notified dates will be conducted by National

Institute of Ayurveda, Jaipur.

1.2.6 A list of subjects in which Ph.D. Programme will be offered is given at Annexure-I.

1.2.7 Examination Fee

Examination fee for the entrance examination is as under:

For SC/ST and Persons with Disabilities(PwD) Rs. 2500/- For all other categories (Unreserved, OBC etc.) Rs. 3000/-

Note 1 : In case of non availability of Differently Abled candidate (PH) the same seat will be offered to Un-reserved candidate.

Note 2 : In case of non availability of candidate in any reserved seat, the same seat will be offered to Un-reserved candidate. Therefore, the Un-reserved candidates of Agad Tantra and Ayurveda Samhita evam Siddhant may also apply for these seats.

Note 3 : 2 Seats are reserved for foreign nationals, 1 Seat in Agad Tantra Department and 1 Seat in Kaumar Bhritya Department. In case the candidate is/are not a333vailable in foreign national quota the Seats will be filled up from Unreserved category.

Note 4 : Seats for UGC-NET/JRF/SLET/AYUSH-NET/CSIR-NET qualified candidates in each specialty will be extra from the above mentioned seats and will be available depending upon the availability of the eligible guides in the concerned specialties

1.3 Entrance Examination

a) A common entrance examination for Ph.D. Programme of various subjects will be conducted for screening of the applicants.

b) Entrance Test shall consist of Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs). All the candidates applying under category A for Ph.D. program shall appear for the Entrance examination conducted by the National Institute of Ayurveda, Deemed to be University (De-novo). However, the foreign nationals will not appear in this program and a separate procedure through ICCR will be followed for them.

c) The test shall consists of 100 multiple choice questions covering 60 subject specific

questions with the competence of PG standard 25 questions from Research Methodology and Statistics, 10 questions from the general knowledge regarding AYUSH and 5 questions from basic working knowledge about computers.

d) The duration of the entrance examination shall be 90 minutes.

e) Each question shall consist of one mark. For each right answer one mark will be awarded whereas for each wrong answer half mark shall be deducted.

f) Entrance test is just for screening and shortlisting of the candidates and final selection will be done after the interview.

1.3.1 Interview

a) The shortlisted candidates (maximum 3 candidates for 1 Seat) on the basis of merit list will be called for interview.

b) The list of shortlisted candidates for the interview will be shared after the entrance examination on the website only(www.nia.nic.in). No separate information will be circulated to individual candidate.

c) 50% marks (45% for SC/ST Candidates) in entrance examination are required to be eligible for appearing in the interview.

d) The candidates shortlisted for the interview shall have to present their research interest and Research proposal through a presentation (Duration: 8-10 Minutes) before a duly constituted University Ph.D. Registration committee of the respective faculty.

e) The interview will also consider following aspects, viz. whether:

• To evaluate the research aptitude of the applicants • The candidate possesses the competence for the proposed research. • The research work can be suitably undertaken at the Institution/College. • The proposed area of research can contribute to new/additional knowledge.

1.3.2 Centre for Entrance Examination

a) Entrance examination shall be conducted at the National Institute of Ayurveda Jaipur. The date of the entrance examination shall be notified on the institute’s website. Hence, the applicants are requested to check the institute’s website regularly.

b) National Institute of Ayurveda, Deemed to be University (De-novo) Jaipur reserves the right to change/cancel the Centre of examination and date without assigning any reason.

1.4 Intimation Regarding Admission

a) Result of the Entrance Examination and Interview shall be notified on the website of the NIA, Jaipur i.e.www.nia.nic.in

b) The shortlisted candidates will be required to produce all the required documents in original at the time of interview.

c) Information regarding subsequent lists of selected candidates, if any, shall be notified on the website of NIA, Jaipur i.e.www.nia.nic.in

d) For all the updates related to Ph.D. admissions, candidates are advised to frequently visit website of NIA, Jaipur i.e.www.nia.nic.in as no separate intimation will be released from the institute.

1.4.1 Syllabus for Entrance Examination

• Question paper shall be based on the syllabi prescribed by CCIM for Research Methodology in MD/MS Ayurveda program and for the Subject concerned under which the candidate has applied for Ph.D. program.

• Questions shall be covering the recent updates in AYUSH and the subject concerned.

• Basics Working knowledge of the Information Technology.

1.5 ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA

• MD/MS degree in Ayurveda in concerned subject from an institute recognized by CCIM. • PG Degree must be complete at the closing date of the Application Form i.e. 31-5-2021.

• No candidate shall be eligible to register for the Ph.D. Program if he/she is already registered for any full-time Program in other University/Institution. In case such candidate gets selected then he/she will have to leave the ongoing Ph.D. Program in other organization.

• Foreign Nationals

2 seats will be reserved for foreign nationals per session. The subject availability for Ph.D.to foreign nationals will be on the basis of rotation. Foreign nationals will apply through ICCR in prescribed format. Applications received through ICCR will only be entertained. In any case seats reserved for foreign nationals in any subject remain vacant the same shall be filled on the basis of waiting list from the Indian applicants in the subject concerned from Unreserved category.

1.6 Reservation

• Reservation of Scheduled Caste (SC), Scheduled Tribe (ST), Other Backward Classes (OBC) to the prescribed extent (according to the policy of Government of India) shall apply in compliance with the rules notified by the University.

Fee Structure of the Ph.D. (Ayurveda) Programme is given at Annexure-3.

1.8 Duration of the Ph.D.Program

• As per UGC Regulations 2016, Ph.D. programme shall be for a minimum duration of three years from the date of registration, including coursework and up to a maximum of six years.

• Women candidates and Persons with Disability (more than 40% disability) may be allowed a relaxation of two years for Ph.D. in the maximum duration.

• As per UGC Regulations, 2016, extension beyond the above limits will be governed by relevant clauses as stipulated in the Statute/Ordinance of the individual Institution concerned.

1.9 Scholarship/Stipend

• Students admitted through entrance test shall receive monthly stipend as per the Institute’s/AYUSH policy for a period of three years.

• Candidates selected from UGC-NET/JRF/SLET/AYUSH-NET/CSIR-NET/CCRAS Fellowship will not be paid any stipend from the institute. They will draw their stipend as well as their research budget from the concerned department as per the guidelines issued by the bodies conducting those examinations.

• Central/State government sponsored or selected candidates will draw their salary from their concerned Central/State Government. National Institute of Ayurveda will not pay any monthly stipend to such candidates.

1.10 Progress report

Registered candidates have to submit the six monthly progress report (or as decided by the institute) of the research work to the Institute through department.

2.0 SELECTION PROCESS FOR UGC-NET/JRF/SLET/AYUSH-NET/CSIR-NET QUALIFIED

CANDIDATES

a) AYUSH-NET - An interview shall be conducted by National Institute of Ayurveda on notified dates for AYUSH-NET qualified candidates who have been awarded SRF by research councils of Ministry of AYUSH. In case, applications more than the available guides in any subject will be received, the admission will be given on the basis of interview and shall be decided by the committee framed for the interview.

b) Biomedical Sciences/Life Sciences – For streams other than AYUSH as mentioned in AYUSH Ph.D. Fellowship scheme 2018, Eligible candidates who have qualified a National Eligibility Test like CSIR-UGC NET for JRF and LS(NET), DBT-JRF in Biotechnology; Bio-technology Eligibility Test (BET); etc. if willing to undertake research on AYUSH related projects can also apply through AYUSH research councils in prescribed application form. Their fellowship will be considered after receiving clearance from the respective AYUSH council

c) Only those candidates shall be eligible for Ph.D. registration whose fellowship is within the validity period notified by the respective councils/bodies conducting those qualifying examinations.

d) The candidates appearing in the interview shall have to present their research interest through a presentation (Duration: 8-10 min) before a duly constituted University Ph.D. Registration committee of the respective faculty.

e) The interview will also consider following aspects,

• To evaluate the research aptitude of the applicants • The candidate possesses the competence for the proposed research. • The research work can be suitably undertaken at the Institution/College. • The proposed area of research can contribute to new/additional knowledge.

2.1 Mode of Interview

• Interview shall be conducted at National Institute of Ayurveda. • However, considering the current situation of COVID-19 pandemic interview can

also be conducted online. • The final information regarding the mode of interview will be notified on institute’s

website. Candidates are advised to regularly visit the website of the institute.

2.2 Declaration of result The list of selected candidates in the interview shall be displayed at the institute’s website.

2.3 Nature & Duration of the Ph.D. Program

The Ph.D. program will be a full time program for the registered candidate. The duration of the Ph.D. program shall be of three years.

2.4 Stipend

The stipend will be paid to the registered candidate under fellowship scheme according to terms & conditions laid down under AYUSH Ph.D. Fellowship scheme 2018.

2.5 Research grant

Research grant as received from the respective council will be issued to the registered candidate according to the terms and conditions as mentioned in AYUSH Ph.D. Fellowship scheme 2018.

2.6 Progress report

Registered candidates have to submit the 6 monthly progress report (or as decided by the institute) of the research work to the institute as well as to the respective research council on prescribed format.

2.7 General Rules & Regulations

Candidates registered for PhD program under fellowship scheme shall have to abide by the general rules & regulations as laid down by the University and the respective council who is providing the fellowship.

Note: For detailed guidelines of AYUSH Ph.D. Fellowship Scheme (2018) visit the websites of respective research councils under Ministry of AYUSH. Govt. of India (www.ccras.nic.in / www.siddhacouncil.com / www.ccrum.res.in / www.ccryn.org / www.ccrhindia.nic.in)

3.0 GENERAL INFORMATION

• NIA reserves the right not to fill up the vacant seats of the Ph.D. program in case of non-availability of suitable candidate.

• The list of supervisors to guide Ph.D. Course in various subjects is given in the Annexure-2. Admission will be strictly on the basis of availability of guides.

• The Admit Card for the entrance examination shall be available at online registration account or registered email address of the candidate.

• Candidates must bring the coloured or black & white printed copy of the admit card to the examination centre along with a valid photo Identity card for verification (Aadhar Card, Driving License, PAN Card, Passport, Voter Card or other valid identity card). Without valid photo Identity Card proof candidate will not be allowed to enter in the examination.

• The merit list for the unreserved category seats will comprise all the candidates in the order of merit including SC/ST/OBC candidates if they come in the unreserved merit. A SC/ST/OBC candidate who figures in the unreserved merit list is entitled to be considered for admission under the unreserved category. Admission to open category seats will be strictly in the order of merit without excluding SC/ST/OBC candidates.

• The candidate seeking admission under reserved category shall produce the relevant certificates issued from respective competent authority for availing the benefit of reservation.

• The Research Proposal for Ph.D. Program shall be submitted by the provisionally registered scholars within three months after registration.

• The candidates who are ‘In-Service’ shall submit ‘No Objection Certificate’ from their respective Department/institution before registering in Ph.D. Programme.

• Please note that permission to appear in the entrance examination is subject to the candidate’s fulfilling the minimum eligibility requirements prescribed for applying to the concerned Programme of study. In case a candidate does not meet the minimum eligibility criteria prescribed for applying to the concerned Programme and appears in the entrance examination, it is done at the candidate’s own risk and cost, and if at any stage, it is found that the minimum eligibility requirements are not fulfilled, the admission, if granted, the same shall be cancelled ipso facto.
