21 st September 2014 at GTU Chandkheda GUJARAT TECHNOLGICAL UNIVERSITY National Day Celebration of China, Germany, Malta and Chile Centre for Global Business Studies On 21 st September 2014, GTU celebrated the National Days of CHINA, GERMANY, MALTA AND CHILE. Centre for Global Business Studies (CGBS) is one of the PG research centres of GTU which promote the research work in field of business management and facilitates the foreign study programs. GTU has an extensive program of International studies. Under this program, Global Country Study Reports (GCSR) was introduced in 2011. Our MBA students are studying more than 110 countries in this academic year. With the objective of keeping the students well-informed about other countries, we have started to celebrate national days of other countries. We have celebrated National days of 22 countries so far. Dignitaries who adorned the event with their valuable experience and views were Ms. Bhagyesh Soneji (CMD, Ameda Pharma Pvt. Ltd, Ahmedabad & Chairperson- Gujarat Council ASSOCHAM), Mr. Sunil Modi (Member, Board of Advisors for GCSR), Mr. N.K. Goyal (Member, Board of Advisors for GCSR), Dr. Shivendra Gupta, Mr. S. National Day Celebration of China, Germany, Malta and Chile

Centre for Global Business Studies

On 21st September 2014, GTU celebrated the National Days of CHINA, GERMANY, MALTA AND CHILE. Centre for Global Business Studies (CGBS) is one of the PG research centres of GTU which promote the research work in field of business management and facilitates the foreign study programs. GTU has an extensive program of International studies. Under this program, Global Country Study Reports (GCSR) was introduced in 2011. Our MBA students are studying more than 110 countries in this academic year. The Celebration began with lamp lighting by all the guests followed by speech of various speakers. As a part of the National Day Celebration, all the participants and guests recited the national anthems of INDIA, CHINA, GERMANY, MALTA AND CHILE. Dr. Sarika Srivastava, Assistant Professor- GTU was the Master of Ceremony for the event and she introduced all speakers to the audience. Mrs. Shakuntala Aggarwal, Dr. Kaushal Bhatt and Mr. Keyur Darji welcomed the esteemed guests by giving them flower bouquet.

To celebrate the national days of CHINA, GERMANY, MALTA AND CHILE faculty members and students of Parul Institute of Management, Vadodara who are studying Germany, Chaudhary Technical Institute, Gandhinagar who are studying – Malta, CK Shah Vijapurwala Institute of Management- Vadodara, who are studying China and Sunshine Institute of Management, Rajkot who are studying – Chile participated in the event at GTU. Dr. G.P. Vadodaria, I/C Registrar, GTU welcomed the audience and appreciated the unique activity of National Day Celebration organized by Centre for Global Business Studies and suggested participants to increase the involvement in Global Country Study Report (GCSR).

Dr. Akshai Aggarwal, Vice Chancellor, GTU shared the motives behind celebrating National Days and the efforts by GTU to make the GCSR program effective. He said, each one must see and establish contacts with the students of other (GCSR) country and should carry out joint research projects in business management & this is the unique way of studying international business. He informed faculty members of institutes to start publishing the articles on latest happing in the particular GCSR country. Each faculty who is guiding the students on a particular country he/she should be able say recent events of the country and its impact on India. He added that India requires the teachers and students who study the foreign country in details.

Mr. K. H. Patel, former Ambassador and High commissioner of many African countries and Board of advisor of GCSR, GTU shared his rich experience with the audience. He highlighted that it is very important to have global exposure to business management students. He shared information about all four countries i.e. Chile, Germany, Malta and China. He informed that Germany has most business relations in EU (European Union). Against international terrorism, Indian companies have established their business in Chile. Malta remains the member of

British Commonwealth and had good diplomatic relations with India. Being a neighboring country, China plays very important and crucial role in the development of India. He also shared some facts and figures of bilateral business relations with these four countries. Ms. Bhagyesh Soneji -CMD, Ameda Pharma Pvt. Ltd, Ahmedabad & Chairperson- Gujarat Council ASSOCHAM committed that she is addicted to this function. She informed that it might happen that the product in which you deal may not have demand in India but certainly this product must be demanded somewhere in the world. By this point of view, study of International Business is very necessary for MBA students. She emphasized that major proportion of

GDP should be based on manufacturing sector. She told that “till the nation is not powerful, you cannot be powerful”. Ms. Soneji also gave one slogan to students that “Think India, Talk India, Feel India”.

Mr. S. Rajaram, Mr. S. Rajaram, CEO, Erhardt Leimer India Private Ltd., a German company shared cultural difference between India and Germany, he added that the basic difference between India and Germany is that “We Call India - Mother Land and they call – Father Land”. He also explained the work pattern, socializing and communication style of the German. He informed audience that Germen companies are highly target and result oriented.

Dr. Shivendra Gupta, Independent Education Management Professional shared his experience with students and faculties of the function. He explained cyclic steps of development that “Engage – Inform – Educate”. He motivated students by saying that “you should stop looking inside and outside but you should look to the goals which are to be achieved, he told students that “Stand up and take charge of the situation.”

Dr. Kaushal Bhatt, Assistant Professor- GTU proposed the vote of thanks to the speakers on behalf of GTU for gracing the National day celebration and sharing their experiences with the participants and faculty members of all four institutes.

In the Technical session, the students from all four institutes have presented the information regarding the political, economic, social, and cultural environment of the respective countries of study.

At the end of the celebration, Centre for Global Business Studies- Gujarat Technological University presented awards to all four institutes for their active participation in the National day celebration of CHINA, GERMANY, MALTA AND CHILE.
