National Conference on
QUATERNARY CLIMATE CHANGE: NEW APPROACHES AND EMERGING CHALLENGES
BSIP, Lucknow, India December 15-16, 2014
SECOND CIRCULAR
INTRODUCTION The Quaternary subdivision of the geological time scale encompasses a period of the last 2.6 million years, consisting the Pleistocene (2.6 million years-11,500 years) and the Holocene (11,500 years-present time) epochs. This period is characterized by some of the most frequent and abrupt climatic oscillations. To understand the magnitude and rate of climate change on millennium, centennial and decadal time scales during the Quaternary Period, scientists across the world are working with concerted approach using multiproxy signals such as pollen, corals, diatoms, dinoflagellates, foraminifera, etc. preserved in the terrestrial and marine sedimentary deposits of lakes/ocean and ice cores from different parts of the globe. A comprehensive and long-term understanding of past climate change is mandatory to simulate the models of climate change, both on global and regional perspectives. This could in turn facilitate prediction of the tentative course of future climate. SUBMISSION OF ABSTRACT Last date for Abstract submission October 31, 2014 SUBMISSION OF ABSTRACTS Scientific abstracts must be received by the Organizing Secretary on or before October 31, 2014 in order to consider for presentation in the conference; earlier submission is highly encouraged. Abstracts should be submitted by email at [email protected]. Presentations will be assigned to oral or poster sessions based on the scientific quality of the abstract and topic fit within the sessions convened by the organizers. If you prefer a poster presentation, please indicate clearly in your abstract submission email. Abstracts of all the accepted papers will be published before the conference and reviewed full papers will be published in Special Volume of “The Palaeobotanist” (Institute’s journal) after the conference.
