Reveille / RetreatReveille / Retreat

“Reveille" bugle, trumpet or pipes used to wake up at sunrisederived from the French word for “wake

up”Signal for the start of the offical duty day

“Retreat” • Two-fold purpose:

• signals the end of the official duty day • serves as a ceremony to lower & paying respect to the flag.

• First note of retreat, face the flag (if visible) or music and assume the position of parade rest.

• End of the music, command attention, present arms• Band plays national anthem

Last note or flag hoisted at staff head-all execute order arms on command of senior member.
