National Academic Depository (NAD)

National Academic Depository (NAD) is an initiative of

Ministry of Human Resources Development, Govt. of India (MHRD)

to facilitate digital issuance, storage, access and verification of

Academic Awards issued by Academic Institutions.

The vision of National Academic Depository (NAD) is born out of an initiative to provide an

online store house of all academic awards.

National Academic Depository (NAD) is a 24X7 online store house of all academic awards viz.

certificates, diplomas, degrees, mark-sheets etc. duly digitised and lodged by Academic

Institutions / Boards / Eligibility Assessment Bodies. NAD not only ensures easy access and

retrieval of an academic award but also validates and guarantees its authenticity and safe

storage.

NAD is a Unique, Innovative and Progressive initiative under “Digital India” theme towards

achieving Digital enablement of the Education Records.

NAD aspires to make the vision of Digital Academic Certificates for every Indian a reality. This

touches the lives of Indian youth and empowers them with Digital, Online, Trusted, Verifiable

Certificates which are accessible in a secure manner at all times.

NAD promises to do away with difficulties/ inefficiencies of collecting, maintaining, and

presenting physical paper certificates.

NAD is a complete system for Issuing Online Certificates to well Identified and Registered

Students.

NAD integrates directly with Boards/ Universities who issue Certificates and hence ensures

Authenticity of Certificate Records.

Digital Depositories

NAD comprises two interoperable digital depositories namely NSDL Database Management

Limited (NDML) and CDSL Ventures Limited (CVL). These digital depositories shall keep the

academic awards in the digital format and ensure data integrity.

Further, The Government of India has designated University Grants Commission (UGC) as an

authorized body for implementation of the NAD project. UGC vide its letter of even no. dated

24.11.2016 requested all Academic Institutions viz Central Universities, Institutions of National

Importance, State Universities, State-funded Deemed to be Universities, Private Universities,

School Boards and others to enter into a Service Level Agreement (SLA) with either of the

depositories for on-boarding on NAD.

We are pleased to announce that Bennett University has

participated in NAD Depository Services and signed Service

Level Agreements in October 2018 with Digital Depository

in NAD i.e. NSDL Database Management Limited (NDML) for onboarding NAD.

Register on NAD to get online access to your Academic Certificates

How can a Student or Degree/Diploma holder register on NAD?

A student or Degree/Diploma holder can easily and quickly register on NAD. There are two

modes of Registration on NAD. First mode is based on Aadhaar whereas students are having

Aadhaar No. with registered mobile. Second mode is for those students who do not have

Aadhaar No. or their Mobile no. are not registered/linked with Aadhaar. The detailed process

has been explained on NAD website and may be accessed at following link

https://nad.ndml.in/NAD/newStudentRegistrationScreen.html.

Once the Registration is complete, a student is required to provide/submit the NAD ID along

with the acknowledgement copy sent to you by NAD. The University shall then verify details of

student to active your account.

Once the University activates your account, you shall get a notification to login on NAD system

whereas you may access your NAD Account having your Academic Records (as uploaded by

the University) using your login ID and password.

3. Enter the OTP received on your registered Mobile no.

4. Enter the Share code to protect your file. This share code works as a password protection for your file.

5. Click on Download to receive the encrypted XML file 6. You shall find the digitally encrypted XML file in download section. Photo, DOB, Email, Mobile, Gender and Address will be included in the downloaded file. This file can now be used to perform your KYC on NDML NAD.

Process Flow

Visit the website www.nad.ndml.in & click on Register tab for new registration

Step 1

Click on ‘JOIN NOW’

Enter your personal details & scroll down

Upload your recent photograph & signature

Step 5

• Your NAD Account needs your recent passport size photo and signature image to help identify you and provide services.

• You can upload a scanned image or mobile photo. JPG / JPEG / TIFF format between 4KB - 100 KB is accepted. The name of the file being uploaded shouldn't have any space/special character into it.

Enter your Current/ Recent past Academic details. Enter the type & state of the university correctly & select your university from the given list of universities.

Create a User ID & Password for yourself with given specifications and click Submit.

• Again this page will open up and scrolling down to the bottom will give you an option to input the OTP received on your phone.

• Enter the OTP and click verify to complete your registration without Aadhaar, post which you need to submit the NAD ID / Acknowledgement printout to your college/university for activation of your account.

Step 9 Once your Registration is Complete, you will receive the following page with all your details mentioned on it (called as acknowledgment copy). You need to take a print of the acknowledgement copy (which is also sent on your given mail id). You need to submit this copy to your academic institution to inform them about registration on NDML NAD System. University will verify your details & then activate your account.

Step 10 (Accessing NAD Account) Once university activates your account, your will get a notification of the same & then you can log in to NDML NAD system on www.nad.ndml.in Click on Login to access your NAD account using your USER ID & PASSWORD, which will contain your Academic Records once it gets uploaded by your Academic Institution / Board / University

Step 11 (Getting NAD ID) Click on My account tab & then on View Account Details to know your NAD ID & to check your other details..
