Information Technology, Marble Falls ISD Marble Falls, TX July 2013–Present Senior Network Engineer Serving as Senior Network and Systems Engineer for the district, managing all switches, routers, firewalls,

filters, Cisco phone system, servers, SANs and virtual environment. Main focus upon initial hiring was to evaluation infrastructure and help plan, design and implement best

practices overall as well as “future proof” the district for increased technology needs. Identified all End of Life network infrastructure and put together a plan for replacement and refresh. I then

redesigned the district network across 7 campuses from the ground up, identifying all switches, cabling (both Ethernet and fiber) and access points needing to be replaced.

Engaged cabling contractors to put new cabling plan into place bringing new cat 6 drops to all classrooms and common areas as well as new single mode fiber into All IDF closets to allow the district the flexibility to conform to new bandwidth requirements both now(10Gb) and in the future.

Configured and Replaced existing EOL cisco infrastructure with new 10gb fiber switches at each core MDF to insure 10gb connection back to network core as well as every IDF closet on each campus. Replaced all layer 2 IDF closet switches with updated 10gb cisco 2960-X switches both stacked and individual to accommodate the increased network load and power requirements.

Redesigned and Replaced existing wireless 802.11b/g infrastructure with Meraki 802.11ac in preparation for a 1 to 1 wireless device initiative deploying over 500 access points in every classroom and key common areas to insure proper capacity and coverage.

Immediately put network security practices in place. Removing all old logins and unencrypted telnet access. Replacing everything with encrypted SSH and TACACS+ domain authentication with logging as well as hourly switch backups to ease any replacement or recovery.

Deployed new 802.1x policies to allow all district devices both PC and IOS to domain authenticate either by machine or user logon.

Migrated all physical servers to the then current virtual environment. Audited server environment to determine best course of action to consolidate and update. Updated all

remaining 2003 servers to 2012. Updated Domain controllers from 2003 to 2012 as well as bringing the AD forest level to 2012 to take

advantage up updated policies. Migrated Exchange 2007 and all users to 2010 Audited all Group Policies and created new policies and procedures Helped plan and implement new best practice and security policies for Active Directory Maintain and Administer 2012 Active Directory Domain Installed and configured Microsoft SCCM 2012 server to replace old 2003 WSUS server as windows update,

Image Deployment and software Deployment Server. Helped plan and implement new EMC SAN as well as replace old VMware ESXI hosts with new 8 Blade

Cisco UCS mini chassis. Migrated servers from old virtual environment to new UCS/EMC environment. Planned and Instated proper backup and recovery software and procedures. Helped plan and roll out new Cisco UCM 10.5 phone system in new server environment deploying over 500

endpoint devices moving over from old 3com phone system.

and Siklu wireless backhaul links to outlying amenities. Instated port level security by mac-address on over 20 switches on the network. Ensuring only specified

devices are allowed on the network and any port with a rogue device is automatically disabled and reported. Planned and implemented configuration of cisco router for DS3 connection ensuring data usage doesn’t rise

above 10mb 95%/month and split connection between 2 networks allowing each one no less than 50% of the bandwidth at max usage.

Designed and implemented a resort wide rollout of a wireless guest network consisting of over 200 Ruckus access points, as well as core networking upgrades to switches and cabling to support the new infrastructure.

Designed a complete overhaul of the Resort wireless backhaul network consisting of over 20 point to point links ranging in distances of .5 miles to 3 mile shots allowing for redundant paths to ensure critical data has more than one path back to the main network as well as load balancing across the multiple links.

Ensure security standards and PCI DSS requirements are met by segmenting networks with vlans and allowing only specified traffic through on documented ports.

Assist in Windows domain and Active Directory administration. Became an expert in Micros 9700 point of sale programming as well as maintenance/troubleshooting on

workstations/server. Maintaining all menus, items, workstations and printers for 19 separate revenue centers. Setup and configured a Linux server running Zenoss to monitor all critical server and network devices at zero

cost to monitor and record the performance of all said devices as well as alert dept. of any failures. Setup another Linux server running Squid/Dansguardian to serve as the proxy server for all company users. It

provides web caching and content filtering for all users. It also stores all data and allows us to pull usage statistics per user down to the hour.

Manage, maintain and troubleshoot the programming of phones on the Nortel CS1000 and Option 61 PBX systems, trace out and troubleshoot any digital/analog line issues.

Played an integral role in major transitions, including the absorption of a Marriott hotel with over 100 users, integrating and merging concurrent networks, a server room migration and major software rollouts.
