Compressed Time
This is where time is cut short and compressed in between shots. This is the most common use of time in film.

Long Take
A clip that doesn’t change through a long period of time, it isn't dramatic and gives off an ‘authentic’ feel.

Simultaneous Time
Where two shots are played on screen that seem to be happening at the same time. Through cross cutting or parallel editing.

Slow motion
To make a clip more dramatic and emphasise an intense moment. Or to make a certain fast movement visible.

Flashback
Where previous events are looked back on, either to show the reader what happened or to show that the character is effected or is remembering the particular event.
