starting at 6:30 p.m. in the school library. You are all most welcome

to come along to this meeting.

Merit Selection for new staff members in 2014 –

representatives needed

We may need to form merit selection panels for a number of

permanent positions at NPS to begin working at the start of the

2014 school year. At this stage, depending on advice to come from

the Department of Education & Communities staffing sections, we

may need to select a new Assistant Principal, School Administration

Manager and a classroom teacher. Each panel requires

representation from the parent body, the teaching staff and the

Aboriginal parent and community bodies. If you are a parent or

community member interested in being on one of our merit

selection panels please contact me at school by Friday, 9th August.

Once I have names of people interested I can then return to the

relevant bodies to confirm representatives and then organise merit

selection panel training for the people to be involved. Please note

that this training is very practical and does not take a lot of time but

must be done before people can participate on a panel.

Don’t forget that NPS will be organising the Leeton/Narrandera

PSSA District Athletics Carnival in Leeton on Friday, 9th August. If

you are able to come along and help either in the canteen or with

any of the track and field events, please let Kira Hoogers know

ASAP. Our combined time and efforts make all these special events

possible for the children so I thank people in anticipation of their

assistance on the day.

Have a wonderful week and I hope you can come along to school

sometime tomorrow for our BBQ, assembly and/or open

classrooms. If you are unable to make it tomorrow, you are always

most welcome to pop in another time and visit your child or

News from the Patch Last Friday was a huge day in the patch. Year 4 spent 2

hours in the morning weeding and composting over 6 beds with hay. EVERYONE will be pleased to know that

after the last few weeks the worms have moved in and all children were very excited to see so many in the

patch. We planted carrot seeds supplied by Mariah and

she was very excited to plant them. Gina planted warrigal greens seeds. They are indigenous and are

similar to baby spinach. Brad was a huge help on the shovel and gave the other boys a few tips on how to use

a shovel like a man. During the rest of the day in turns we moved plants into

the new coloured pots outside the infants building and

replaced some dead plants near the infant’s entrance. There was a rather large trail of dirt and mess following

us but was pretty tidy when we left school after a huge day. The children learn many things while gardening and

having fun too.

Mr Lucas also had recess break in the patch and planted some rosemary and French lavender with some

interested children. Friday afternoon KL went out with Mr Lucas and did

some weeding too. Mrs Seymour – Patch Organiser.
