DRUG SITUATION REPORT/SIGNIFICANT EVENTS
REPORT FOR INDIA FOR THE MONTH OF
MAY 2015

This report is based on the information received from
various State and Central drug law enforcement agencies
till the end of May 2015. Significant seizures effected
earlier but reported during May 2015 are also
incorporated in this report.

SEIZURES EFFECTED IN THE MONTH OF MAY, 2015
On 03.05.2015, officers of NCB, Delhi Zonal Unit intercepted a parcel at M/s DHL Express Pvt. Ltd., Kirti Nagar, New Delhi and seized 285 gram of Heroin. The drug was concealed in 04 sheets of laces. The suspected destination of the seized drug was Nigeria.
On 05.05.2015, officers of NCB, Chandigarh Zonal Unit in association with STF, Haryana Police seized 36.150 kg of Opium along with Indian Currency of Rs.19,40,000/- at Sirsa. 02 persons were arrested.
On 05.05.2015, officers of Directorate of Revenue Intelligence, New Delhi seized 7.966 kg of Heroin at Sector 7, Dwarka, New Delhi. 01 Nigerian National was arrested.
On 06.05.2015, officers of NCB, Bangalore Zonal Unit seized 3.000 kg of Ganja, 79 gram of Hashish and 160 milligram of LSD. 06 foreign nationals (04 Nigerian, 01 Burundian & 01 Ivory Coastian) were arrested.
On 06.05.2015, officers of NCB, Mandi Sub Zone in association with Himachal Pradesh Police destroyed illicit opium poppy cultivation spread over 05 Bighas (1 acres) of land at village Chhota Kandi, District Mandi and booked 01 case.
On 06.05.2015, officers of NCB, Delhi Zonal Unit intercepted a parcel at M/s DHL Express Pvt. Ltd., Kirti Nagar, New Delhi and seized 600 gram of Heroin. The drug was concealed inside the machinery gear shaft. The suspected destination of the seized drug was Canada.
On 07.05.2015, officers of NCB, Lucknow Zonal Unit seized 50 gram of Heroin at Chinhat Chauraha, Lucknow, 02 persons were arrested.
On 07.05.2015, officers of NCB, Dehradun Sub Zone destroyed illicit opium cultivation spread over 0.879 acres of land (0.632 acres on private land & 0.247 acres on Government land) at Village Sandool, Tehsil Nainbag, District Tehri, Uttrakhand.
On 10.05.2015, officers of NCB, Ahmedabad Zonal Unit seized 3.004 kg of Hashish at Geeta Mandir, Ahmedabad. 01 person was arrested.
On 11.05.2015, officers of NCB, Mumbai Zonal Unit intercepted a parcel at M/s DHL Express India Pvt Ltd, Andheri (E), Mumbai and seized 600 gram of Mescaline. The drug was concealed between layers of rectangular cardboard wrapped with laces. The suspected destination of the seized drug was Netherland.
On 12.05.2015, officers of Central Bureau of Narcotics, P&I Cell, Ratlam seized 4.430 kg of Opium at Mandsaur. 02 persons were arrested.
On 13.05.2015, officers of NCB, Indore Zonal Unit seized 670 gram of Heroin at Dhar-Indore Road. The drug was concealed in the slippers. 02 persons were arrested.
On 13.05.2015, officers of Central Bureau of Narcotics, P&I Cell, New Delhi seized 750 gram of Heroin at Old Bus Stand, Bareilly, Uttar Pradesh. 01 person was arrested.
On 15.05.2015, officers of Customs Preventive Divison, Karimganj seized 1727.300 kg of Ganja at Trade Centre, Sutarkandi. 02 persons were arrested.
On 16.05.2015, officers of Directorate of Revenue Intelligence, Patna intercepted a vehicle at Patna and seized 289.400 kg of Ganja. 03 persons were arrested.
On 18.05.2015, officers of Customs, Air Intelligence Unit, Mumbai seized 12.913 kg of Methaqualone at CSI Airport, Mumbai. The drug was concealed in the false compartment of top and bottom of the checked-in-baggage. 01 South African national was arrested. The suspected destination of the seized drug was Johannesburg.
On 20.05.2015, officers of NCB, Chennai Zonal Unit seized 190 gram of Cocaine at Eranvur, Chennai. 01 Nigerian national arrested.
On 20.05.2015 & 21.05.2015, officers of NCB, Ahmedabad Zonal Unit intercepted 24 parcels at Post Office, Ahmedbad and seized 5260 tablets of Zolpidem, 48300 tablets & 6.250 kg (loose tablets) of Alprazolam, 4180 tablets & injections of Diazepam, 6470 tablets of Lorazepam, 6110 tablets of Clonazepam, 25 injections of Ketamine Hydrochloride, 1100 tablets of Acetaminophen & Codeine Phosphate, 270 tablets of Oxycodone & Acetamine, 330 tablets of Hydrocodone Ditartrate & Acetaminophen and 770 tablets of Zopiclone. 03 persons were arrested. The suspected destination of the seized drug was USA & Europe.
On 20.05.2015 officers of NCB, Mandi Sub Zone in co-ordination with local police destroyed illicit poppy cultivation spread over 0.801 acres on Government land at village Swad under GP Sudhar, Mandi.
On 22.05.2015, officers of NCB, Delhi Zonal Unit seized 2940 tablets of Alprazolam, 93 tablets of Lorazepam & 30 tablets of Zolpidem from four parcels at Return Letter Office (RLO), Jhandewalan, New Delhi. The drug was concealed in cartoon parcel wrapped with brown tape and three brown envelops. The suspected destination of the seized drug was USA.
On 23.05.2015, officers of NCB, Jammu Zonal Unit intercepted a vehicle at Ban Toll Plaza, Nagrota, Jammu and seized 13.648 kg of Hashish. 02 persons were arrested.
On 23.05.2015, officers of Goa Police seized 0.43 gram of LSD at Bardez, Goa. 01 Nigerian national was arrested.
On 24.05.2015, acting on information provided by NCB, Chennai Zonal Unit, the officers of NCB, Hyderabad Sub Zone seized 1.056 kg of Heroin at L.B. Nagar, Hyderabad. 02 persons were arrested. The suspected destination of the seized drug was Kuwait.
On 24.05.2015, officers of NCB, Madurai Sub Zone seized 7.220 kg of Alprazolam powder at Thalavaipuram, Virudhanagar. 03 persons were arrested.
On 29.05.2015, officers of Directorate of Revenue Intelligence, Lucknow seized 4.600 kg of Heroin at Lucknow. 02 persons were arrested.
On 30.05.2015, officers of Directorate of Revenue Intelligence, Gujarat intercepted a vehicle at Surat and seized 3.557 kg of Ephedrine. 03 persons were arrested.
During the month of May, 2015, officers of the Customs, FPO, New Delhi intercepted 03 parcels containing 500 gram of Heroin. The suspected destinations of seized drugs were United Kingdom & Netherland.
During the month of May, 2015, officers of the Sashatra Seema Bal (SSB) seized 14.770 kg of Hashish, 544.650 kg of Ganja & 64 gram of Heroin in 07 cases and arrested 07 persons
including 02 Nepalese nationals. The suspected source of the seized drugs in most of these cases was Nepal.
SEIZURES EFFECTED EARLIER BUT REPORTED IN MAY, 2015
On 02.04.2015, officers of Anti Narcotics Cell, Maharashtra Police, Pune seized 151 gram of Cocaine at Camp, Pune. 01 West African national was arrested.
On 26.04.2015, officers of Indian Coast Guard Ship “Sangram” intercepted a suspicious boat at International Maritime Boundary Line (IBML) apprehended 08 Pakistani national crew members along with 232 kg of Heroin and handed over to Yellow Gate Police Station, Mumbai for further investigation under NDPS Act. 08 Pakistani national were arrested. The drug was concealed in 11 drums. The suspected source of the seized drug was South West Asia.
