Introduction Alzheimer’s disease is the commonest

progressive neurodegenerative disorder of elderly population, characterized by memory dysfunction, spatial and temporal disorientation and impairment of judgment clinically.

In Alzheimer’s disease, a peptide referred as amyloid beta aggregates (oligomers), and accumulates in the brain to form deposits called as amyloid plaques.

Curcumin Turmeric (Curcuma longa) is an amazing ingredient with a rich traditional history as a dietary spice and herbal supplement in ancient china and India.

This characteristic yellow colored spice, derived from the rhizome of the plant (C. longa), is a member of Zingiberaceae family and is widely cultivated in India and Southeast Asia.

Epidemiological studies Various studies and research results indicate a lower incidence and prevalence of AD in India The prevalence of AD among adults aged 70-79 years in India is 4.4 times less than that of adults aged 70-79 years in the United States. Researchers investigated the association between the curry consumption and cognitive level in Asians between 60 and 93 years of age. The study found that those who occasionally ate curry (less than once a month) and often (more than once a month) performed better on a standard test mini mental state examination (MMSE) of cognitive function than those who ate curry never or rarely
