This is the third issue of the user guide for the NanoCommissioning Tool V2.X for Nano panel basedsystem having main controller at V2.5X.

Nano Commissioning Tool

The Nano Commissioning tool is used to configure and label a Nano panel based fire detection and alarmsystem. These instructions cover how to install the tool, use the functions of the tool to enter preliminaryinformation about the system, retrieve devices, configure and label the whole system and transmit theconfiguration to the panel. Additionally this tool has command functionality that can directly control the panel, tosound alarms, silence alarms, reset system, simulate fires and enable/disable devices, zones and sectors.

How to get the Nano Commissioning tool program

The Nano Commissioning tool software program can be downloaded from theGent Expert forum :

(www.gentexpert.co.uk).

The website is accessible to Gent System Integrators who have registered. If you have not registered thensimply click on the 'registration link' and follow the on screen instructions.

You should download the Nano Commissioning tool software from Gent Expert forum to a directory.

Installing the Commissioning tool program

The Nano Commissioning tool software can run on most laptops having Windows XP PRO with Service pack 2or 3, Windows Vista Business with Service Pack 1 or Windows 7.

� Before installation of the Nano Commissioning tool program refer to theinformation on Gent Expert regarding any additional requirements, such as installation ofDOTNET framework V2.0 and Crystal Report Runtime Viewer V10.0.

� Find the directory that holds the Nano Commissioning tool installation and double click on

Nano Commissioning Tool.exe. Follow the on screen instructions to complete the installation.

� After the tool installation you can install the USB driver for the Nano panel:START -> Programs -> Nano Commissioning Tool -> Install USB Driver.

Upgrading the Commissioning tool program

Before you upgrade or downgrade your Nano Commissioning tool program you must first remove the existing

Nano Commissioning tool program from your computer.

� START -> Settings -> Control Panel -> Add or Remove Programs -> Change or RemovePrograms.

� Scroll through the current programs and select the Nano Commissioning Tool and click on the'Remove' button.

� Follow the on screen instructions and once the previous program is removed you can theninstall the upgrade or downgrade by following the procedures for 'Installing the Commissioningtool Program'.

Ensure the Commissioning tool is connected to the Nano panel.

Send the complete Nano system configuration from the Commissioning tool to the Nano panel.

The will guide you throughthe steps for setting up the Commissioning tool.You can skip steps by clicking the ‘Finish’ button afterfilling in the mandatory field information and fill in anyoutstanding information later.

You can also choose to exit the wizard at any timeby clicking on the ‘Cancel’ button.

Connect the Laptop having the tool to theNano panel.

Retrieve the loop devices properties of the Nanosystem from the Nano panel to the tool.

Associate the devices to and then configure each zone. The devices like Sensors, MCPs andInterface inputs can be associated with zones.

Associate the devices to and configure each sector. For example devices like S-QuadSensor/Sounder, Sounders, Strobes and Interface outputs can be associated with sectors.

Configure each properties where require, such as the device label, volume setting of sounder device,sensor states, use of monitored line mode and interface mode.

Test the system’s Cause and Effect from the Commissioning tool. You can command the panel from the toolto Simulate Fire, Silence Alarms, Reset system, Cancel buzzer and enable/disable parts of the system.

Compatibility with Nano V1.x Commissioning Tool

The Nano V2.x Commissioning tool can accept Nano V1.x Commissioning Tool configuration file, howeveronce a V1.x a .prj file is opened in V2.x tool the file can only be saved as .mdb file.

When a V1.x file is configured using a V2.x tool then only the V1.x tool functions in the V2.x tool are applicable.An example of this is the Calendar function which is applicable for system configured for use in V2.x systemand not applicable for system configured for use in V1.x system.

Starting the Nano Commissioning Tool

You can start the Nano Commissioning tool by clicking on the Nano icon or by selecting the Nano tool from thewindows programs menu,ie Start -> Program -> Nano Commissioning Tool -> Nano Commissioning tool.

How to obtain a License for the tool

It is possible to use the commissioning tool ‘offline’, that is disconnected from the Nano panel, in order toprepare configuration data and run battery standby calculations without the need to license the tool. A license isrequired before attempting to connect the commissioning tool to the Nano panel in order to upload/downloadconfiguration data and/or control the panel.

To obtain a Nano Commissioning tool license you will need to get a Site Key from Technical Support to

activate the tool, follow steps 1 to 4.

� You can transfer the License from one computer to another using the 'TransferLicense Out' and 'Transfer License In' functions.

How to create a 'New' project file

The first step is to create a new project file and follow the wizard to enter the preliminary details about the site.

How to 'Save' a project file

Once the information is entered in the tool you must save the data to the project file.

� It is a good practice to save work on a regular basis, every 15 minutes, to avoidloss of entered data.

If there are discrepancies in the entered valuesthat do not meet the configuration criteria, thenthe window will pop up.For example if the maximum number of loop devices,interface units, keyswitch interfaces, beam sensorsare exceeded then this window will appear toprovide a warning that corrections are required.In this example the check has failed because thereare is a mismatch of beam sensors on the loop.

How to enter the 'General' values of Panel Settings

The general panel settings have options to set the use of External Evacuate Input, Class Change Input,

Printer port usage and Repeat indicator panel. The form allows entry of the current taken by the Master Alarms

and External 24V DC output. The Maintenance configuration entries include reminder settings of interval,

Date of first service and the reminder text.

How to enter 'Delay' values of Panel Settings

The delays settings have a number of options, to enable the weekly fire test settings for selected days of theweek, with start and end time entry as 24hour clock. The Day Night Mode can be set to Night Mode, (delayspermanently Off), Manual (Day/Night mode selected by user), Automatic (Calendar) or Day Mode (Delayspermanently On).

These settings apply delay to alarm activation uponpressing of the Verify button on the panel.- Initial delay has a factory setting of 30 seconds- Day mode delay has a factory setting of 10 minutes- Day mode timeout duration has a factory setting of8 hours and can be up to 24hours

For automatic Calendar select the days of the weekwhen delay is required and define the Start andEnd time of the delay.

Click the check box to apply the Calendar mode to selected days of the week.This example shows Monday to Friday being checked for Calendar mode operation.

The advanced panel settings have a number of options, to enable the weekly fire test configuration and allow

The logo displayed on the panel can be customised using the logo editor in the tool. It is important to note thearea reserved for the logo on the panel display is small, so a custom logo must be small, therefore any intricateshape may not display well and may need to be simplified using the logo editor in the tool.

Once the Nano system is fully configured at the Nano Commissioning tool, you can sendthe configuration to the Nano panel. Select the iconor selectOnce the panel has the configuration ensure it is backed up to the panel memory.

Commands to control the system from the tool

You can send commands to the panel to control the system directly from the Nano Commissioning tool,providing the tool is connected to the nano panel.

� Options become selectable when the appropriate form is being displayed andthe respective attribute highlighted.

These are controls to Reset panel, Sound Alarmsand Silence Alarms from the tool.

The local panel buzzer can be silenced byperforming a Cancel Buzzer from the tool.

From the ‘Loop device settings’ form you can selecta device and perform a Find Device from the tool.

From the ‘Loop device settings’ form you canselect a device such as a fire sensor or interfaceto conduct Simulate Fire from the tool.

From the ‘Loop device settings’ form you can selecta device such as a fire sensor or interface toenable or disable it from the tool.

How to Upgrade firmware

� The preferred method of upgrading the panel firmware is by the use of SD cardat the Nano panel, follow procedures in the Nano Commissioning instructions.
