IntroductionAllahintroducesHimselftouswithHismostbeautifulnames.ThesenamesarefilledwithHisattributesandtheseareperfectnames.IbnQayyimsaidifyouknowAllahbyHisnamesandattributesthenyouwillsurelyloveAllah.TheloveofAllahcomesasaresultofhavingknowledgeofAllah.WeneedtoloveAllahmorethananyoneelseandevenmorethanourselves.WhenweknowAllahbyHisnamesandattributesthenitimpliesthatweloveAllah.Whenwe love Allah then we will worship Him because worship cannot be done without love.Withoutlove,worshipisjustaroutine.Todaywewillstudythename“ArRahmanArRaheem”(ThesenamesindicatethemercyofAllah)

ThescholarssaidtherearemanynamesofAllahbuttherearethreenamesthatareheadofallnames:

• Allah - It shows our attachment. It shows how perfect Allah is and that He is the only onedeservingourattachment.

• Rabb–ItshowsAllahactionsi.e.howAllahdealswithus.Allahnurturesusthroughthecreation,throughguidanceandthroughprovision.Hetakescareofusaccordingtowhatissuitableforus.

• ArRahman–Itisaboutthefeelingsi.e.themercyandthecompassionofAllah.

ArRahmanArRaheemaretwonamesofAllahandtheattributeismercy.Allahisfullofmercy.WeneedAllah’smercy in order to survive in this life. Our entire existence is because of Allah’smercy.We areacquiringknowledgebythemercyofAllah.Whenwepray,fast,readtheQuranordoanygooddeed,itisAllahbriningforthallthegoodnesstousbyHismercy.WecannotlivewithoutArRahmanArRaheem.Our life is surrounded by Allah’smercy and even death is amercy of Allah because deathmarks theconclusionoftheexam(tests)ofourlife.Whenwearealive,itisamercyofAllah,everydetailofourlifeisamercyandeverypartofourbodyisamercy.Evenifwehaveanypainorsicknessitisamercyasitexpiates thesinsas justhowthe leaves falls fromthetrees inautumn.Ourproblemsareamercyas ittakesustoAllah.Evenourneedse.g.drinking,eatingetc.ismercyfromAllah. WearelivingunderthemercyofAllahandHeistakingcareofusfullofmercy,

• InsurahAlFateha,Allah tellsusallpraiseand thanksaredue toAllahasHe is theNurturerofeveryone.HeistotheRabboftheworlds.Allahreformsusfullofcompassionandmercy.WearesurroundedusbyHismercy.WeneedtobelieveandfeelthatAllahisArRahmanArRaheem

• WhenwestartreadingtheQuranorstartdoinganythingwestartwithBismillahArRahmanArRaheem.We start by the name of Allah, as He is full ofmercy.We need Allah’smercy to startanything.

• AllthebenefitswegetinthislifeisfromArRahmanArRaheem.Whetheritismoney,childrenoranything we have in this life is a mercy from Allah. When we benefit from knowledge orequipmentaroundus;itisallfromthemercyofAllah.

• WhenwearehappyinlifeitisthemercyofAllahthatmakesushappy.Whenwearegettinganygoodinourlife;itisfromArRahmanArRaheem

• Allthegoodinthis life is fromthemercyofAllah.Alsoit isthemercyofAllahthatavertsharmfromus.NoonecanprotectusfromharmexceptArRahmanArRaheem.NoonecanprotectusfromShaitaanexceptArRahmanArRaheem.NoonecanprotectusfromsinsexceptArRahmanArRaheem.Allah changes the situation toprotect us fromall kindsof evil including the evil ofourselves.Allahprotectsourheart tonot feel sadorsorrow. Allahbringsall thegoodnessandavertsalltheharmbyHismercy.

• ArRahmanArRaheemareveryspecialandvastnames.Allahsaid in theQuran thatHismercyexpandsandextendseverything.AnypartofthisworldthatAllahcreatedincludingtheheavensandtheearthissurroundedbyHismercy.

• Allahgivesusmercydependingonwhoweareandwhatweneed.

• Weshouldnotaskanyone formercybesidesAllahasAllahknowsexactlyhowmuchmercyweneed.

• Allah is not onlymerciful on the humans but also the animals. Allah protects the animals andenablesthemtosurvivethislife.

• AllahsurroundeveryonewithHismercywithoutanyoneasking.

• ThemercyofAllahismorethanthemercyofanymercifulperson.

• Thehumansbeingmercycanbemisusedwhenthepersonhavethefeelingofmercyisexploitedtodosomethingharmful.

• WeaskAllahforsomanythingsandsomanywemakesupplicatetoAllahbutoursupplicationisdelayed.ThereismercyinthedelayandAllahdoesnotgiveusbecauseHeknowsitisnotgoodforus.ThedecreeofAllahisfullofmercy.AlhumdulillahAllahdidnotmakeustochooseourdecreebecauseifweweregivenachoicewewillchoosesomethingharmfulforourselves.

• WhateverAllah gave us is amercy of Allah. Even ifwe are going through difficult times it is amercyasourpatienceintimesofcalamityelevatesourstatus.SomanypeopleenterParadiseduetotheafflictionanddifficultiesofthislife.

• Inlifethereisnoequalityassomepeoplearerichandsomearepoor,somearemarriedsomearenot,somehavechildrenandothersdon’t.Ifwedon’tbelieveinthedecreethenallthisinequalityseemstobeunfair.HoweverwhenweknowArRahmanArRaheem,weknowthatwhateverAllahgaveusisatestanditisfromthemercyofAllah.InshortwecanseethemercyofAllahineachandeverypartofourdecree.

• Weseeexampleofmercyinthecreationwhentheanimalshavemercyontheirchildrenorwhentheyhavemercyon theotheranimals. It isAllahwhoput themercy in thecreation.ThemercythatwehaveinusissomethingAllahputinus.Wedon’tevenownthecharacteristicsofmercyinus. Allah puts themercy in the heart of themother so she can dealwith the newly born child.WhenparentshaveadisabledchildthenAllahputsadditionalmercyinthemtotakecareoftheirchild.AswegrowoldAllahincreasesthemercyinus.AllahisArRahmanandArRaheemandHeisthesourceofallthemercyintheworld.

• AllahsaysthatHeplacesthefeelingofloveandmercybetweenthehusbandandwife.

• Allah‘smercyexpandsandextendstoeverylivingandnon-livingthingintheworld.

• There isaHadithof theProphetSAWtoexplainthemercyofAllah.OncetherewasamanwhocametotheProphetSAWwithhischildandhewaskissinghisson.TheProphetSAWaskedhim,“doyouhavemercy towardsyourson?”.Themanreplied, “yes”.Then theProphetSAWrepliedAllahismoremercifultohisslavesthanyouaretoyourchild.

• There is anotherHadith of the Prophet SAWwhere in one of the battles after itwas over, onewomanwasdesperatelysearchingandlookingforherbabyandassoonasshefoundhimshefedhim.TheProphetSAWaskedhiscompanions,”doyouthinkshewillthrowherchildinthefire?”thecompanionsreplied,“no”.ThenProphetSAWreplied,“Allahismoremercifultohisslavesthenahteladyistoherchild.”

• AnotherHadithwhenAllahmadethedecreebeforethecreationoftheheavensandearth.AllahwrotethatHismercyprecedesHisangeronatabletandplaceditonHisthrone.Thisiswhywedon’tfindanynameofAllahas‘Angry”

• AllahmercyisbydefaultsuchthatHismercyexistedevenbeforethecreationoftheheavensandearth. Allah is Ar Rahman Ar Raheem before the existence of the creation that neededmercy.Allah.MercyisthepersonalattributeofAllahandAllahwillgivethemercytowhomeverHewills.

• Allah’smercyisperfectandstable.Itdoesnotgoupanddown.NoonecanchangethemercyofAllah.IfAllahwantsmercyforusthannoonecanstopthemercyfromus. OntheotherhandifAllahdecreesthatapersondoesnotdeservemercythennoonecangiveusthemercy.ThereforeourheartshouldonlyattachétohimweneedtoonlylookuptoAllahformercy

• ItissaidArRahmanisthenameofAllahthatisattachedtoHim.

• MayAllahhavemercyonuswhileweareontheland,whileweareinthegraveandwhenweareresurrectedontheDayofJudgment.WeneedthemercyfromonlyAllah.ItisthemercyofAllahthatkeepsusgoinginlife.

• Humanbeingsadmireandlovetheperfectionespmercy.

• We findmercy of Allah inHis legislation, regulation and all his commandments e.g. Salah, fast,Quran,Zikrisallmercy.Allahwillnotcommandusanythingthatisnotmerciful.

• AlsoanythingthatAllahforbadeusfromisamercyofAllah.InshortIslamisthereligionofMercy.Mercy inthis lifeandmercy inthehereafter.Allahwantsthebest forus. There ismercy inthereligionineveryaspectofmylife.

• When we attend the study circle Angels surround us. The place where Angels are is a placesurroundedbymercy.ThereforethereismercyofAllahinthestudycircle.

• All the messengers of Allah had the quality of mercy. Allah religion, His decree and all Hismessengersarefullofmercy.

• Allah loves ifwearemerciful.Havemercy towards thepeopleon theearthandAllahwillhavemercyonus.Allahappreciatesusevenwhenwearemercifuloneventheanimals.Therewasawomenwhowasverypiousbutshelockedacattodiewithoutfoodandwater.TheProphetSAWsaid the ladywould be in fire.We need to bemerciful toward people, our family and to evenanimals.Wedon’tknowwhatwilltakeustoParadise.Weshouldnotharmoroppressanyone.
