The National Engineers Week Future City Competition is an example of problem based learning with computer simulation. 10 Mathematics Science Partnership Grant

Two Teacher Academies composed of 30 teachers from 6th and 8th grade were formed to assist teachers in enhancing their content knowledge in the areas of Earth Science and Physical Science. The cohorts will remain the same over two years so that the cumulative total is 160 contact hours per teacher.

A multi-year cancer quest program to improve inquiry-based science instruction in our high schools by supporting teacher professional development in the biomedical sciences. 21 Small Fry to Go

An outdoor "labitiat" designed for students, teachers, and community to use scientific instrumentation and practice scientific inquiry methods while they maintain and sustain living habitats in which they raise rainbow trout, catfish, and frogs twice a year. The NASA Science Engineering Mathematics and Aerospace Academy, or SEMAA, is a national innovative project designed to increase participation and retention of historically underrepresented K-12 youth in the fields of science, technology, engineering and mathematics, or STEM. The goals of the NASA SEMAA project are to inspire a more diverse population of students to pursue careers in STEM; engage students, teachers and parents by incorporating emerging technologies into the project; and

26 Elementary Science Olympiad

Science Olympiad is a national non-profit organization dedicated to improving the quality of K-12 science education, increasing male, female and minority interest in science, creating a technologically-literate workforce and providing recognition for outstanding achievement by both students and teachers. These goals are achieved by participating in Science Olympiad tournaments and non-competitive events, incorporating Science Olympiad into classroom curriculum and attending teacher training institutes.

Master Gardener Program of the University of Georgia Cooperative Extension provides community-minded teachers and gardeners with practical horticultural training that can be taken back and shared in their schools and communities.
