Na brdu, na 50 metara nadmorske visine, s obiljem vidikovaca s kojih se pruža prekrasni pogled na Hvar, Makarsko primorje. Selca su malo skrovito mjesto koje je dugo vremena svoje atrakcije čuvalo od masovnijeg turizma. No ni najskrovitija ljepota ne može ostati toliko sačuvana, što je i dovelo do toga da je ovo mjesto postalo nezaobilazna turistička postaja.

Tome su doprinijela njegova predivna, priroda sraz brda i savršenih uvala, ljetna kulturna događanja, impresivna crkvena manifestacija s poznatom procesijom i fjerom. A malo pomalo i sportska natjecanja, koja su se s vrlo brzo prometnula u nezaobilazne atrakcije za brojne ljubitelje aktivnosti na otvorenom. Jedna od njih je već tradicionalna Brač Run utrka, u kojoj natjecatelji jačaju sportski duh i zdravi život. Ali i uživaju u pogledu i mirisu najboljeg što Selca nude. A da se dobar glas daleko čuje, pokazuju i natjecatelji koji u mala Selca dolaze čak i iz dalekog Meksika.

Selca is a small, secluded place that has kept its attractions away from mass tourism for a long time, but even the most successfully hidden beauty can’t be so preserved, and that notion has made this place an unavoidable tourist destination.

This was aided by its stunning nature, the clash of the hills and perfect coves, summer cultural events, an impressive church event with a well-known procession and feast. Then came the sports competitions, which quickly turned into unavoidable attractions for many fans of outdoor activities. One of them is the traditional Brač Run race, in which the competitors strengthen their sporting spirit and their lust for a healthy life, on top of that, they also enjoy the views and the scents of the best Selca has to offer.

Competitors who come to little Selca, even from places as far away as Mexico show that a good voice is always widely heard.

svoju atrakciju. Uzmimo samo Selca,

malo mjesto s istoka Brača, s nekoliko

Ono što im se nudi je neponovljivo, to je doživljaj trčanja među kalama uokvirenim kućama od bijelog kamena iz obližnjih kamenoloma, preko makadama do zapuštenih pastirskih naselja, uz stare bunare i maslinike, pokraj uvala s kristalno čistim morem, kroz makiju i šumarke, uz obalne ceste.

Selca kriju i još nešto vrlo zanimljivo, impozantnu crkvu Gospe Karmelske na trgu koji je centar mjesta. Ali i nevjerojatnu zbirku bista, kipova, spomen ploča podignutim u čast velikana svjetske scene. Tu su svoje mjesto našli Lav Nikolajević Tolstoj, kojem su upravo Selčani digli prvi spomenik na svijetu, Franjo Tuđman, Stjepan Radić, Hans Dietrich Genscher. I za vječno sjećanje sačuvani podsjetnici na Papu Ivana Pavla, te štovanje na Krista Kralja. Sve su to Selca, malo mjesto za veliki, brojnim aktivnostima ispunjeni odmor. Ostala mjesta u općini Selca, neistraženi brački dragulji: Sumartin, Povlja i Novo Selo, adresa su za uživanje u posezoni. Ova mjesta mala mjesta odišu kulturom i poviješću, skrivenom ljepotom i dragim ljudima. Ovaj predio Brača nudi mnogo toga, posebice posjetiteljima u potrazi za autentičnim i nesvakidašnjim doživljajem.

What they are offered is something nobody can copy, the experience of running among the white-framed, white-stone houses made from nearby quarries, across macadam trails to neglected shepherds’ settlements, past old wells and olive groves, by the crystal-clear bays, through the bushes and forests, and along coastal roads.

Selca also hides something very interesting, the imposing church of Our Lady of Carmel in the square which is located in the centre of the town,as well as an incredible collection of busts, statues, memorial plaques erected in honour of the greats of the world stage. This is where Lav Nikolayevich Tolstoy found his place, to which the Selca locals erected the first monument in the world... Franjo Tudjman, Stjepan Radic, Hans Dietrich Genscher... Reminders of Pope John Paul and the worship of Christ the King are preserved for eternal memory.

All these are in little Selca, a small place for a great holiday filled with many activities. The four main settlements - in the municipality of Selca, unexplored Brac gems: Sumartin, Povlja and Novo Selo, are addresses for enjoying the post-season.

Each of them are brimming with culture, layered history, eclectic people and hidden beauty, this part of the stunning island of Brač has so much to offer to visitors in search of peace and authenticity off the beaten path.
