From Soldier to Dr. Nadine

Beating stress to live a kick-ass life

Once upon a time there was a young girl named Nadine. She was from a small town with four sisters. To pay for college on her own and travel the world, she opted to join the army.

She was strong, healthy, 120 pounds, and ran faster than most of the guys.

While training in Monterey, California, she became a Russian linguist before being deployed to Kosovo.

Пρивет!

One afternoon while deployed in Kosovo on a

mountain top doing signal intel work, President Bush

announced theWar on Iraq! Major Stressor

There were 3 types of stress: 11. Physical: bombs, mortars, threat of rape2. Emotional: away from family, facing unfamiliar

situations 3. Chemical/Toxicity: contaminated food and

water, parasites, toxins.

Nadine joined in the fight in Iraq as a combat driver. She carried her M16, wore a bulletproof vest, and pulled shifts in the guard tower.

The constant threat from bombs, her male GI counterparts (rape), and the start of chronic neck pain were stressing her out. Because sanitation practices were poor, she unknowingly was infected by a Parasite!

Major Stressor

#3Driving in Combat was hazardous. She had one serious brain injury and severe neck pain after her vehicle was hit and rolled over.

Nadine was going through some of life’s major stressors and after several months she was worn out.

The boom from car bombs could not awake her. There was no thirst or taste for food. She could not small talk with her friends.

She essentially felt like a zombie on The Walking Dead TV show.

Gehhhht…meehhh…hoome!

Nadine the Zombie Soldier

How to Make a Zombie

Nadine’s war experience (Civilian world equivalent)1. Put a human in a cage (Office

cubicle).2. Every hour make loud noises

(phones), unleash a tiger in the cage (boss) and keep fluorescent lights on constantly.

3. Create smells, sounds, sights that are shocking and can’t be forgotten.

4. Lace the food with a parasite (contamination, GMOs, sugar) that slowly deprives the body of nutrients.

5. Turn the temperature up to 140°F and drop it to 30°F the next day to confuse the brain’s thermostat and make the human very uncomfortable.

6. Give the human a task daily that undoes the one completed the day before (boss changes the standard operating procedures daily). When you feel like you do not have a clear mission the mind becomes less engaged.

7. Tell the human that the project will be complete tomorrow and he/she can go home. Make this promise for 6 months (promised a raise that never comes).

Returning Home

The stress had worn out the glands needed for her to be resilient and energetic: the adrenal glands. These glands secrete hormones that affect every tissue, how you feel and how well you  think by changing blood sugar  levels, gut  function,  immune  health,  fat  storage,  reducing inflammation  from  allergens  and  toxins,  and  helping  to regulate the sex hormone cycle. These hormones have a host  of  physical,  psychological,  and  emotional  effects and when they are not balanced  it  is difficult to be well and  happy.  Eventually,  the  adrenal  glands  produce  less than  optimal  amounts  of  hormones,  which  is  called Adrenal Fatigue.

Nadine  found  it  difficult  to  have  the  energy  to  go  to school  and  have  a  social  life.  Also,  the  more  she  felt exhausted, the more “PTSD” symptoms she experienced: flashbacks, feeling hopeless, confused about her reasons to plan for a future, study, make friends.   She could not get  on  with  life  in  this  condition.    She  needed  a treatment  that  would  reverse  the  stress  her  body  had been  under.  That  treatment  was  Functional Medicine and chiropractic care.

Now that Nadine was out of the army and back home, all she needed was to

get on with life, right? WRONG!

Nadine’s Symptoms on Adrenal Fatigue

Functional Medicine vs. Conventional Medicine

The mission of healing the body using Functional Medicine is to optimize the function of all body systems so that the individual may live with the highest state of performance possible while preventing modern degenerative diseases. A functional medicine practitioner looks at health as the absence of suppressed body function.

This is different from conventional medicine where health is defined as the the absence of disease. Although adrenal fatigue has been recognized and treated successfully for over 100 years, conventional medicine does not treat it.

If you were to see your conventional MD, a standard and very minimal lab (Complete Blood Count) would be performed and reveal little. Remember, adrenal fatigue is not a disease but the beginning of the pathway to disease. Thus, your MD would not detect any abnormality, would not suggest a remedy, and would send you away as if nothing were wrong.

Dr. Nadine experienced this countless times with her conventional doctor. She learned that there was a clear line between medicine and alternative medicine: your medical doctor can help you by screening your health yearly to detect the presence of disease and help you when you have a recognized disease but does not work to prevent disease. For this, you have complimentary alternative doctors: Integrative Medical Doctor, Functional Medicine Practitioners, Chiropractors, Acupuncturists, Naturopaths, and others.

Nadine found out what was the cause of her symptoms using the BioHealth Adrenal 201 test kit.

An ideal balance of hormones enhances metabolism, energy production, immune function, and other processes critical to health.

Hormone imbalance degrades such functions and accelerates the aging process.

Your stress response is dependent on your adrenal gland hormone, cortisol. This is the hormone measured to assess your ability to cope with stress and remain healthy.

Could you benefit from Functional Medicine?

You may have Adrenal Fatigue if you answer “yes” to the following:

o Increased frequency of illness.

o Increased gut pain, intolerance to food, diarrhea, constipation, bloating.

o Breakdown muscle tissue for fuel while increasing abdominal fat. “Muffin Top”

appearance.

o Skin lesions, pimples, pallor, dryness

o Always tired!

Stress is the cause of 80% to 85% of all human illness and disease.Stress is a major contributing factor either directly or indirectly to coronary artery disease, cancer, respiratory disorders, accidental injuries, cirrhosis of the liver and suicide; the six leading causes of death in the United States.

When your adrenal stress test results reveal a problem in adrenal function, there is a solution to get them working optimally.

Nadine’s yellow line indicates a depressed adrenal function and the cause of her symptoms.

Nadine’s supplement protocol was based on her individual lab results . You will have a tailored protocol to your specific state of adrenal fatigue to restore your function back to optimal levels.

We don’t guess but know what you need. Stressed Healthy

Adrenal Health

Nadine was getting better but her neck still had pain from her injury even after several years! Her pain was stealing her youth and ability to be productive. She noted that her success was inversely proportional to her neck pain; the more pain she had the less productive she was at home and at work. This was not how she dreamed of living.

Chiropractic Care was the solution.

Chiropractic care is a system of complementary medicine based on the diagnosis and manipulative treatment of misalignments of the joints, especially those of the spinal column, which are held to cause other disorders by affecting the nerves, muscles, and organs.

Chiropractic careMore people are turning to chiropractic  than ever before.

As  a  Doctors  of  Chiropractic,  Dr.  Nadine  is  skilled  in determining  if  your  complaint  is  musculoskeletal, neurological, or  involves dysfunctions in organs and tissues, such as adrenal fatigue, kidney stones and gut inflammation.

She  spends  40-60  minutes  listening  to  your  health complaint,  asks  questions  about  your  lifestyle  to  identify causes  and  remedies  while  performing  a  diagnostic examination. Chiropractors have broad diagnostic  skills  and can  identify  the  need  for  medical  intervention.  Dr.  Nadine often  refers  for  co-management  of  your  complaint  with other  members  of  her healthcare team:  integrative alternative  medical  doctors,  nurse  practitioners, acupuncturists,  massage  therapists,  personal  trainers,  and others.
