This user guide is intended for those individuals who are applying for any Civilian Developmental
Education (CDE), Civilian Strategic Leader Program (CSLP), and Engineer & Scientist Exchange Program
(ESEP) program opportunity within MyVector. MyVector has been created to manage Air Force Civilian
personnel who are interested and eligible to apply for developmental opportunities. It involves a multi‐
step process which includes: Select Programs, Update Endorsers, Update Agreements, Update
Development Plan, Provide Additional Documents, Update Resume, and Review/Submit. The following
pages will assist you in submitting your application. The screen shots contained within this guide are
samples and may differ from what you actually see based on which programs for which you are eligible
and choose to apply.
NOTE: The information you input and update will be captured and used for your CDE/CSLP/ESEP

3.0UpdatingYourCareerInformationHighly recommend ensuring your MyVector information is current at all times. Prior to a program
nomination period you may log into MyVector and update your career information and experience.
3.1 My Documents
In this section you can navigate to refresh your MyVector record. To refresh your Personnel Brief, select
“My Documents”, select the drop down next to “Civilian Personnel Brief”, and select “Refresh Brief
Data” (Figure 3.1.1).
Figure 3.1.1 – My Documents
Once you have refreshed your data, navigate back to “Experience” and the most recent information will
be available.
3.2 Updating Your Experience and Development Plan
Prior to the nomination period, it is recommended individuals log into MyVector and update/edit your
experience and education, and self‐reported private sector or sister service experience and education.
It is recommended to update your long term and short term goals. MyVector will retain this information
and transfer it to your CDE/CSLP/ESEP application and resume when you move through the application
process during the nomination window.
From your Dashboard you can navigate by selecting “Experience” (to update your
experience/education) or “Development Plan” (to update your long and short term goals) on the left‐
hand side of your screen. (Figure 3.2.1)

3.2.1 Experience
In this section you can review and edit a summary of your civilian career experience to include current
and historical duty history information, education and training completed. Experience contains the
following areas:
Summary: This is a summary of your AF Career Field Experience based on any Job Associations
you have provided in your duty history.
Duty History: You will be able to view, edit and hide on resume your duty history, as well as self‐
report additional experience not retrieved from the Air Force personnel system. Please ensure
descriptions/accomplishments are provided for any jobs you have listed. You are also able to
associate your jobs to Career Fields in this section. This association is optional. It is imperative
that your experience limits duty descriptions and focuses on accomplishments. Challenge,
Context, Action(s) and Results (CCAR) is a recommended approach in writing your
accomplishments. In other words: What was the challenge you faced and what was your
involvement (context) in solving this challenge? What actions(s) did you take and what where
the results of those action(s)? Please keep in mind that those reviewing your application are
seasoned professionals that have extensive experiences in knowing what duties you are
performing and they prefer to see how well (accomplishments) you are performing those duties.
Please spell out any acronyms since someone from outside your functional area might be
reviewing your application and may not be familiar with the terminology.
Education: This is a summary of your education. You are able to view, edit, hide on resume and
self‐report.
https://myvector.us.af.mil/myvector/
Page6
Training: This is a summary of your training. You will be able to view, edit, hide on resume and
self‐report.
Awards and Decorations: This is a summary of any awards and decorations you have received.
You will be able to view, hide on resume and self‐report.
Export My Experience: You will be able to export your information to a PDF file. The PDF
contains all the information identified within the Experience section.
View My Resume: You will be able to view how your resume will look once submitted. Please
ensure all areas are completed, including a description for each job you have entered.
3.2.2 Development Plan
In this section you can view your job preferences, update your desire for training and education, and
update your career goals. Development Plan contains the following tabs:
Career Intent Tab: The information in this tab is not used when applying for CDE/CSLP/ESEP, but
is important when applying for functional opportunities such as Key Career Position and Career
Broadening positions. Goals & Intent allows you to outline any relevant details concerning your
career plans, goals, answer developmental team group intent questions, and fill in other
information you would like leadership to know about. The Job Preferences tab allows you to
update your near‐team, mid‐term, and far‐term job preferences, along with updating your
location preferences.
Career Goals Tab: (The information in this tab is important for applying for CDE/CSLP/ESEP
opportunities.) Here you need to enter your long‐term career goal and short‐term objective.
Click on the green Add New Career Goal Item button to add a new goal/objective.
4.0NotificationofEligibility
You will be notified of the CDE/CSLP/ESEP Nomination Call via an AFPC message letting you know when
the application window will open, and will be directed to MyVector in order to apply.
View your Dashboard by selecting the link at the top. Under the Activity Feed within the Dashboard, you
will receive a notification to “Volunteer for a Developmental Education Program” which will include all
the programs for which you are eligible. (See Figure 4.0.1).
https://myvector.us.af.mil/myvector/

Figure 4.0.1 – Notification of Eligibility
5.0ApplyingforDevelopmentalEducationProgramOnce the application window opens, you can access the application by selecting “Volunteer Here”. It
will show you to the list of available programs for which you are eligible, and can apply (circled in orange
in Figure 5.0.1 below).
Figure 5.0.1 – Application
Indicate the program(s) to which you are interested in applying by selecting the box to the left. You can
apply for a maximum of four programs each year. In addition, course information can be viewed by
selecting the blue “i” icon in the Info column of the desired program. (circled in blue in Figure 5.0.2) The
course grid will indicate what additional information is required along with the application to be
considered for the program(s). Upon selecting your desired program(s), be sure to determine the
priority by using the up/down arrows (circled in red in Figure 5.0.2). If you are not interested in applying

this year, you can select the red “I Do Not Wish to Be Considered” button. WARNING: If you click this
button, then change your mind later and wish to apply, you will be unable to do so without having your
application unlocked.
Figure 5.0.2 – Additional Documents/Prioritizing Courses
After determining interested program(s), categorizing your prioritizations and selecting “Save and
Continue”, you will be directed to the next screen to update your endorsers’ information (Figure 5.0.3).
You can provide suggested comments to your endorser via the Suggested Comments field. Only one set
of comments can be entered and will be visible to all endorsers you identify below.
All endorsers must already be a registered MyVector user to allow you to select them as your endorser.
To choose an endorser, start by entering the last name and allow the system to render the results. If
needed, scroll through the results and select on the desired name and select save. If the endorser’s
name does not appear as an option, this means they are not a registered user. You will need to contact
them and request they register in MyVector. Once all have registered, you can complete this section
and select “Save and Continue”.
In the system each endorsement field will identify the level of endorsement required. If, for any reason,
an endorser needs to be updated, type the new name into the “Set Endorser” field, select the
appropriate person, and then click “Save”. This will update the endorser for that category.
https://myvector.us.af.mil/myvector/
Page9
Figure 5.0.3 – Updating Endorser(s)
After selecting your endorsers and clicking Save and Continue, the next step is to identify up to five
reviewers. (Figure 5.0.4) Adding reviewer information is optional. Reviewers can be individuals at
intermediate levels between your first level supervisor and your higher level endorser. Reviewers can
provide input to your Endorsers. If reviewers choose not to provide input, it will not prevent your
application from moving forward in the process. The input provided by your reviewers will only be
visible to other reviewers which you have identified and to your endorsers. You, as the applicant, will
not be able to view these comments.
Figure 5.0.4 – Adding Reviewer(s)

Page10
After selecting your reviewers and clicking Continue, you will be navigated to the “Update Agreements”
page (refer to Figure 5.0.5). At this point in the application, you will be required to acknowledge and
agree to all required agreements (i.e. Mobility Agreement and/or a Continued Service Agreement)
associated with the selected program(s). Complete the required action by marking the “I Agree” box
and clicking Continue. If you do not select “I Agree”, you will not be able to submit your application. If
the program(s) you are applying for does not require such an agreement, you will get a screen stating
“No Agreements are required.”
Figure 5.0.5 – Update Agreements
The next step in the application process is to review and/or update your development plan (Figure
5.0.6). If you have already completed your Development Plan, it will automatically pull your
information from that section. If you have not already added this information, you will be required to
complete this information. Please also answer the Air Force Global Questions provided. After
completing this area, click Save and Continue.

Figure 5.0.6 – Updating Development Plan
The next part of the application (Figure 5.0.7) is to provide any additional documents required by the
program to which you are applying.
If you require a waiver, please click the button and upload a completed waiver signed by the applicant
and the senior level endorser. You can find the waiver form at
https://mypers.af.mil/app/answers/detail/a_id/14694. We only accept waivers for the programs and
reasons listed on the form.
You will be able to upload the required document by clicking Upload PDF. NOTE: You are only able to
upload one document, so if the program requires multiple documents, please save all of them into one
PDF. Once you have uploaded the document, click Save and Continue to proceed. If additional
documents are required, you will be unable to proceed in the application process until they are
uploaded.

Page12
Figure 5.0.7 – Adding Additional Documents
You will be navigated to the next step (Figure 5.0.8), Review Resume. Your resume is a compilation of
information retrieved from the authoritative source(s) (i.e. AF personnel systems), along with any self‐
reported information (i.e. other experience and training from non‐AF organizations such as prior military
service with the Navy; private sector employment/volunteering; or other training education not already
reported). The system will pull:
Duty History
Education
Training
Awards and Decorations
You are required to review and update your resume in MyVECTOR (in lieu of uploading a resume). If you
need to edit any of the areas on the resume, click the link in the blue banner (circled in red in Figure
5.0.8) and you will be taken back to the Experience area. Remember to focus on Challenge, Context,
Action(s) and Results (CCAR).

Figure 5.0.8 – Review Resume
The final step of the application process is “Review and Submit”. (Figure 5.0.9) Here you can view all the
documents included in your application along with the ability to export them. If you need to make any
changes to any part of the process just click on that step and the system will navigate you to it. There
will be one final agreement on the accuracy of the application. Please check the box under Application
Agreement to verify that the information is correct and that you are aware that you will be unable to
change your application once it is submitted.
WARNING: Once you select Submit, your application is final and cannot
be changed unless your endorser sends it back to you.

Page14
Figure 5.0.9 – Final Step in Application Process
After you submit your application, you will be asked to verify that your application is accurate before
finalizing. Click “Submit” to submit your application, or “Cancel” to return to the application (Figure
5.0.10).
Figure 5.0.10 – Submit Application
Once you submit your application, you will receive a success notification (Figure 5.0.11). If you do not
receive this success notification, your application has not been submitted and will not be considered.
https://myvector.us.af.mil/myvector/
Page15
Figure 5.0.11 – Success Message
Once you select “Submit”, the application will be sent to your endorsers for
approval/disapproval/changes. This will complete your Applicant portion.
In some cases, the application may be returned to you for additional information and/or correction. If
this is the case, please provide the additional information and/or make the corrections, then review and
ensure you submit again.
6.0ReturnedApplicationsYour endorser may return an application and request a change or ask for additional information. If this
occurs, you will receive an email notification and there will be a notification in the activity feed on your
MyVector dashboard (Figure 6.0.1). Your Endorser will provide comments to detail why the application
was returned.
Figure 6.0.1 – Returned Application
6.1 Updating Your Application
When you see a request to update your Developmental Education application on your activity feed, you
can update your application by clicking “Update your volunteer application here”. After you update
your application, navigate to the “Review and Submit” tab. Here you will again select “I Agree” in the
Application Agreement section and submit your application. (Figure 5.0.9). Once you resubmit your
application, you will receive a success notification (Figure 5.0.11). Again, if you do not receive the
success notification, your application has not been submitted and will not be considered.

7.0CheckingtheProgressofYourApplication
After you have submitted your application, you can check the progress of your application by selecting
the “My Boards” tab on the left of your Dashboard. You will see the applications you have submitted
during the current cycle, along with their status. If the status says “In Progress” (Figure 7.0.1), that
means that you have started your application, but have not submitted it yet. If the status says
“Submitted” (Figure 7.0.2), that means that you have successfully submitted your application for review.
The information next to your endorsers’ names shows you whether they have completed their input
(shows as “Complete”) or not (shows as “In Progress”.)
