COLU MN ADDIT ION

Column Addition is addition but you separate the place value in rows and column. For example we do 155 + 77 then we do 7+5= 12 then we do 7+5=12 and we carry 1 and we would get 13 and we carry the 1 & 2 so are answer is 232

ESTIMATE

An estimate is when you do a math problem when you round it to the closes number. For example least say were doing 199+ 257 so we round it and we get 200+ 300 and the answer is 500.

EXPANDED NOTATION

Is like when you do 6*6 but it’s like this 6 2. for example this is a Expanded notation 2 2. the answer is 4.

MAGN ITU DE ESTIMATE

A magnitude estimate is a estimate that says where should you could place it in the tens hundreds and thousands. For example lets say that there is 146 so you round it to the hundreds and you get 100. Then you do 235 and you round it up and you get 200. then you add them together and you and your answer is 300.

MAXIMUM

The maximum is the biggest number. For example 12, 23 and 45. 45 is the maximum.

Page 10: My unit 2 vocab

MO DE

The mean is the most often number. For example 15,12 15,23,13,and 17.15 is the mode.

MEDIAN

The median is the middle number. For example there is 1,1,1,2,2,2,3,3,3,5,5,5,9,9,9,10,10,10. 3 is the answer.

MIN IMU M

Minimum is the lowest number. For example we have 9,7,6and 3 what is the minimum? The answer is 3.

Page 13: My unit 2 vocab

MEAN

The mean is the avenge number. For example we have 19, 16 15 and 7. then I add them all up and you get 57than you do 57 /4= 14 and a R 1.

Page 15: My unit 2 vocab

PL ACE VALUE

Any number is understood by it’s symbol and by it’s location like ones, tens and hundreds. For example 743 7 = 7 hundred

Page 16: My unit 2 vocab

RANGE

The range is the maximum – minimum the maximum is 10 and the minimum is 3 then the range is 7.

Page 17: My unit 2 vocab

RELATION SYM B O L

A symbol used to express a relationship between two quantities. For example the symbol = means equal to.

Page 19: My unit 2 vocab

SO LUTION

A solution is the answer to a problem. For example 16 +5 =21. 21 is the solution.

Page 20: My unit 2 vocab

NU MBER SEN TENCE
