Brain Fingerprinting is a controversialproposed investigative technique that measuresrecognition of familiar stimuli by measuring electricalbrain wave responses to words, phrases, or pictures
that are presented on a computer screen.
Brain fingerprinting was invented by Lawrence Farwell.

Defining Brain Fingerprinting
Scientific technique to determine whether or notspecific information is stored in an individual's brain
Relevant words, pictures or sounds are presented to a
subject by a computer in a series with stimuli
The brainwave responses measured using a patentedheadband equipped with EEG sensors
P300- Specific, measurable brain response emitted by the brain of a subject who has the
relevant information stored in his brain

How Does it Work?
The technique uses the well known fact that anelectrical signal known as P300 is emitted from an
individual's brain approximately 300 milliseconds after
it is confronted with a stimulus of special significance,
e.g. a rare vs. a common stimuls or astimulas theproband is asked to count.
The novel interpretation in brain fingerprinting is tolook for P300 as response to stimuli related to the
crime in question e.g., a murder weapon or a victim's
face.

Brain responses were recorded from the midlinefrontal, central, and parietal scalp locations, referencedto linked mastoids (behind the ear), and from a locationon the forehead to track eye movements
At the end of each test, subjects were given a writtenlist of all stimulus items and asked to mark each itemas noteworthy, somewhat noteworthy, or irrelevant
those marked were thrown out

Information is absent Information is present
RED: Information the suspect is expected to know.
GREEN: Information not known to suspect.
BLUE: Information of the crime that only perpetrator would.

ADVANTAGES
ADMISSIBILITY OF BRAIN FINGERPRINTING INCOURT:
Brain Fingerprinting has been thoroughly andscientifically tested.
The theory and application of Brain Fingerprinting havebeen subject to peer review and publication.
The rate of error is extremely low --virtually nonexistentand clear standards governing
Scientific techniques of operation of the technologyhave been established and published.
Brain Fingerprinting is non-invasive and non-testimonial.
Record of 100% accuracy
