The School began as an Institution for girls in 1964 with the name of “Bachillerato Femenino” . In 1975 its name became “Liceo Manuel J. Betancur”. The first Principal was Joaquin Pablo Tamayo. In 2002 is called “Institución Educativa Manuel J. Betancur”. In this year there were 1732 students and 34 teachers. In 2010 the Institution celebrated its 45 anniversary.

My school is small, but it has three

journeys; morning, afternoon and

evening (for adults).

It is located in San Antonio de Prado. At

this moment the institution has a mixed students

population.

Our mission is to form to children, teenagers and adults in an integral way. Through processes that facilitate the development of all people`s dimensions, emphazing in the different skills.

Our vision is to be leader in the children, teenagers and adults integral formate to improve their quality of life, the natural, social and cultural environments, in order to continue the superior education process.

The shield was created in 1981

The green color represents the family values

the red color means vitality, energy enthusiasm.

The shield has a Liz flower that represents life.

The laurel crown means the triumph of the values

the book means the perseverance in learning.

for girls It is a brown and red plaid skirt , with a white shirt.

Dress Uniform: It's a blue jean with a white shirt for boys. the shirts has the emblem of the institution

Gym uniform: is a gray sweatshirt and a white shirt with school shield. the gym uniform is the same for girls and boys
