From this screen shot the background image would have been filmed either early in the morning or late at night to avoid direct sunlight that would dominate the interviewee. Also this includes Graphics from the name below.

Positioning of the interviewer is important. If interviewee is on the right side of the frame, the interviewer should be positioned to the left side of the camera.If interviewee is on the left side of the frame, the interviewer should be positioned on the right side of the camera.In both cases the interviewer should sit or stand as close to the camera as possible.-Interviewer should be eye level with the interviewee-Interviews are never filmed with a light source behind them or in front with the window. light is always in front.Background reinforces the content of the interview or is relevant to the interviewee.

From this screen shot from the documentary, the interviewee is following the rule of 3rd's rule for interviews. Also the background behind the interviewee is completely relevant to the documentary.

Mise-en-sceneBackground reinforeces the content of the interview or is relevant to the interviewee providing more information without them in the terms of occupation/personal environment.Questions are edited out Cutaways are edited into an interview for two reasons:-Break up the interview and illustrate what the interviewee's talking about.-Avoid jump cuts when questions are edited out.

This is a use of Archive Material from the documentary that must have had some sort of relevance to the documentary.

Cutaways are either:Archive Material- suggested by something said in the interviewee, therefor filmed after the interview.-Sometimes aspects of of the interviewee are filmed with another camera such as extreme close up of the eyes and the mouth and also the hands are used as cutaways.

GraphicsUsed to anchor who the person is on screen and their relevance to their topic.Name at the top/job title underneath.
