1. MY HEROIC GREAT-GRANDFATHERS Presented by Nikolai Yadrentsev Star City School named after V.M.Komarov War is a terrible word. We are lucky that for us the war is over. The Great Patriotic War was over 70 years ago. We paid a high cost for the victory. Each family lost a father, a son, a grandfather, or a daughter during that awful war. 2. MY HEROIC GREAT-GRANDFATHERS My great-grandfather, Alexey Potemkin, before the war was the head of a big agricultural state farm in Stavropol Region. When the fascists came to the region he joined the partisans. In August, 1942 he was shot for his connection with the partisans. 3. MY HEROIC GREAT-GRANDFATHERS My other great-grandfather, Vladimir Dzhigirey, started to fight as part of the 1st Ukranian Front in January, 1944. In the army he was in the artillery. Before that he lived on the occupied territory in Ukraine. In April of 1945 in Czechoslovakia he was heavily wounded. 4. MY HEROIC GREAT-GRANDFATHERS For courage he was awarded the Medal of Honour in 1944 and the Order of the Patriotic War of the 2nd degree in May, 1945. 5. MY HEROIC GREAT-GRANDFATHERS I am thankful to my great-grandfathers and all the people who fought at the war for their courage and strength, and for our peaceful living.
