WHY TITANIC AND THE BOY IN THE STRIPED PYJAMAS?

I chose these two films as similar to mine because they are both based on true events. Titanic is representing the sinking of the ship “Titanic” while the boy in the striped pyjamas is representing the holocaust. They both are very emotional films which we were also intending to go for in our film sequence. I would distribute these films in my company because I’d have a company that distributed emotional, meaningful films that is based on true events and sends a message to the audience. The film Titanic and The boy in the striped pyjamas are very strong films which presents the ethical issues of different subjects and by doing this, they became very popular movies and are still watched today which we would want to do with our films.

RESTRICTED LOCAL RELEASE

Our distribution company will enable us to have a restricted local release with the premier just because it’s new and fresh and not widely known. I think people would watch the film on Screen on the Green because a local release is more appropriate for our film as it would allow the audience to familiarise the audience with the films released. And maybe after, if the film becomes quite spread out, It could be released widely theatrically.

VIMEO

The digital distribution of our title sequence being accessible on Vimeo will allow our target audience to get through to it. We chose to post our film on Vimeo rather than Youtube is because Youtube is unprofessional and anyone can put up videos, whether it’s relevant or not. Whereas, Vimeo is a place for film makers and this seems more professional than Youtube as not everyone is entitled to the video.

DVD

We will have our film in DVD form, so that it can reach to their wider audience as Vimeo only allows certain people to watch it. Having the film as DVD form will also allow the audience to watch it more comfortably, they can watch it as many times as they want.

WHY I HAVE CHOSEN THESE DISTRIBUTION METHODS?I have chosen these distribution methods because we are a small, independent distributor who specialises in distributing independently made films.

CONCLUSION

In conclusion, our distribution company focuses on distributing films that are based on true events, that are emotional and meaningful and that can send a message to the audience or change someone’s view about a topic.
