Introduction

This is a collection of my compositions. These are the five

compositions that I created throughout this school year.

In the first composition, I wrote about my brother

Helaman, about of his description and some of his

characteristics. In this unit, I have learned how describe

some one, their most important characteristics, how to

make a description and a profile.

In the corresponding composition to the second unit, I

wrote about of my favorite restaurant called “Pizza ya!”

and why, also I made a description of the dishes

In the third composition I wrote about my favorite book:

Danny the Champion of the World. The sad story of

Danny and his father. This is the story of the true love. It’s

beautiful. In this unit I learned how to make a book

review.

In the corresponding composition to the fourth unit, I

wrote about of plan travel, where I have learned how to do

a plan of travel, arrange times and as to agree with another

person.

In the five composition, I wrote about of an advertisement

to volunteers in an international sporting event. I have

learned how to respond to a voluntary, how to write about

my abilities and feel capable of doing a job.

In the following compositions, I wrote about several topics

and other things, giving my opinion about these.

I added an image alluding to the subject to express what

can not be written.

Also I added a link where you can listen the corresponding

composition.

About my learning

Thanks to these compositions and each of the exercises of

the unit, I have learned more and put my knowledge into

practice in real life situations.

In this work I can show a lot of what I've learned, however

it is poorly, but anything is possible, thanks to the effort

can accomplish many things. There are different ways to

learn English; is not sufficient use all resources but it is

convenient to do.

I hope enjoy my work.

Profile

He is my younger brother; he studies in the secondary school.

He was able to better himself from

early age, as sometimes he had

problems with the school, but in

this moment, he has one position in

the school escort. His friends tell

that he is very intelligent,

responsible, careful and dedicated. I

admire my brother for exceeding

the expectations of psychologists.

Eating & Drinking

My Favorite Restaurant

Some times my family and I go to a restaurant called “Pizza ya”.

They serve Spaghetti

Bolognese, French,

Italy, and Spanish

with cream, or with

tomato sauce.

They also serve four

pizzas: Mexican,

Hawaiian, Sausage,

Mushrooms. They use

many ingredients, for

example: pineapple,

ham, cheese, pasta, beef, pepper, onion, and a touch of garlic.

This combination of ingredients results in many tastes: delicious,

spicy, salty, some very spicy but the food is very good.

Art & music

Danny: The Champion of the World This is the story of Danny, one kid that

lost his mother. Now he lives with his

father. The novel is set in the forest

far out of a small city. They are very

poor, but they don’t stop fighting.

In this book you can read about the

real love of a father for his son.

This is the story of the true love. It’s

beautiful.

Making arrangements

Dear Max,

I’m just writing to check your travel plans for your visit next

week.

What time’s your flight due to arrive? The airport is just

outside the city, so it’s probably best to get a taxi to the office.

It should cost about €30. Have you got the address?

When you get to the office, I’ll introduce you to everyone and go

through the schedule for the week. Then I’ll take you to your

hotel. In the evening, we’ll all go out for a meal.

Dear George Ellis:

Hello, my name is Efrain Villanueva. I’m from Mexico City. I’m twenty-

one years.

I’m interested in your advertisement for volunteers to help at the

International Sporting Event.

Well, I could help you. I consider myself the perfect volunteer to

work for you, because I’m very interested in all sports, especially in

athletic sports.

Since three years ago, I learned some languages, for example: I can

speak excellent English and Spanish, and some French. When I learned

these languages, I had the opportunity to work at other international events,

in tickets sales at Expo07 and as a tour guide at a local museum last

summer; therefore, I have experience with this type of jobs.

Of course I enjoy meeting people. When I have to talk with people, I

feel very happy.

In this moment, I’m available, not next month, but yes all month of

July.

Mobile phones

Mobile phones have become more common across the world; they

have revolutionized people’s lives all over the world.

Many people in the cities use the mobile phones, they need them.

But, how good are mobile phones?

There are several advantages. First of all, it is easy to keep in

touch with people. You just need to have credit. Secondly, it is

easy to communicate if there is a problem or emergency. In

addition, it could help facilitate some work. You could download

apps in your smart phone.

However, there are also some disadvantages. You could receive

any unwanted calls. Another disadvantage is that some smart

phones are very expensive, and the credit is limited.

In conclusion, mobile phones are very good for an emergency or

in case problems, it can make life easier, but everything needs to

be used.

Urban cycling

Advantages:

It is very healthy to your body

Not emit any kind of contamination

Reduces the likelihood of myocardial

attack

Sometimes is better than cars

Not consumes any kind of fuel

It is smaller than another vehicle

Disadvantages:

You need good balance

Could be dangerous if not is careful

Writing:

Cycling is a sport that involves the use of bicycles to travel certain

distances. There are several branches of cycling: road, mountain, trial, bmx

and urban. The urban cycling is in the cities, it is practiced by all kinds of

people to reach their destinations (school, job, ride, tour, etc).

There are several advantages. First of all, it is very healthy because it is a

very good exercise. You do not create any kind of contamination because it

doesn't use any type of fuel. Secondly, it is an aerobic exercise so it

reduces the likelihood of myocardial attack. In addition, it is smaller than

other vehicles so it could be better than cars in the traffic.

However, there are also some disadvantages. Firstly, you need a very good

balance and control. If you don't have it, you may have problems and fall of.

Secondly, cycling could be dangerous if not done carefully. You always need

to pay attention to all things in the street.

Time

How much important is the time for you? Do you agree with the statement

"time is money"? How do you spend your free time?

Many people waste their free time in things that are not so

important. Certainly, time is like money, you could spend time in things that

are important or, waste time in things that are not so important.

It's certainly true that we have a lot more free time than our

grandparents. Sometimes, people say "the time goes very fast!" Why?

When people have a lot of things they have to do, they spend all their time

doing these things, and they feel that their time is very short.

I think that people could use their free time more wisely. It is just

thinking in the more important things.

I believe that it is important for families to spend time together.

Families always comes first, above all else. Go the park, eat pizza, or go to

the sea in vacation. There are many things that unite families.

We should spend more of our free time doing exercise and outdoor

activities. Do a bike ride as an exercise and outdoor activity, also it unite

families.

There are a lot of things that young people could do in their free

time, for example: learn to play some musical instrument, read a good book,

painting, help with housework, listen music, etc.

In conclusion, time is gold; life is too short, so don't bored. There is

always something to do.

Organize your time, because time is gold.

Many young people have several problems because of poor organization of

their time. However, other have benefited from a good organization of

their time.

It is certainly true that in the school we need a perfect organization

for our time, all the homework, study for the exam, reading books,

recording audioboos, etc.

I personally believe that the key are in prioritizing the most important

things and put them at the beginning of the task list.

In my opinion, the most important thing in this time is school; this should be

first on our list.

After establishing the most important, now, you must think what to

do when you have free time. You can spend time in rewarding activities like

learning some musical instrument, playing some sport, drawing, painting,

reading a good book, etc. However, fun also is important.

You can play videogames, or watch a movie, a walk with friends, but

this is secondly. Do not waste a lot of time in these things, because time is

gold.

Time never returns. Remember that family is also above all things.

Time passes, use it wisely.

Hi! How are you? I Hope you're

Last year, I went to EcoFest

and I had fun while I was

the environment.

The event was in Chapultepec,

nearby, so you can stay there.

Last year, I went to EcoFest

because I wanted to know more

about cacti, and make a garden

in my house using sea shells,

In this event, you can learn all about how to be ecological, and how to caring

the environment. There are also offer several products that are

environmentally friendly, as well as a variety of plants and decorations from

recycled materials.

Mexico City

Mexico City is a very busy city; people call the valley of Mexico because it

is surrounded by various hills, mountains and volcanoes.

It is a busy city; full of cars, traffic and pollution, but it is where I

live. It is the capital in Central Mexico. The challenge is to live in this city,

not to be affected by all the problems that there are in it. Rather help to

solve them.

However, it is not a hell. There are many places that you can visit and

have a good time alone or in company: as the Tlalpan forest, Chapultepec

Lake, bike path of Ajusco, Six Flags Mexico, cinemas, etc…

The worst of the city is the drug trafficking, organized crime and

poverty.

What I like most about my city are the quiet places that still exist in it.
