My Artist Profile
Ellie Fizzle and Lewis Aldrin
Who do I want my artist to be similar to?
My magazine has a blues and jazz theme and is called Blues News. For this reason my made up artist needs to be similar to a well-known jazz artist that is well respected in their field with a large backlog of successes. Prime examples that fit these criteria would be one of Ella Fitzgerald, BB King, Willie Dixon or Louis Armstrong. All are African-American so it is imperative that my artist looks as
if of the same ethnicity. They are all well-known and have a long list of famous tracks between them, personally I think that Louis Armstrong is one of the most incredible musicians of his time and is insanely talented in both trumpet playing and singing so would be a very strong contender
for someone to model my artist after. Him and Ella Fitzgerald worked very closely together and as a pair became increasingly famous and they complimented each other perfectly. So ideally I’d like to do a joint cover story on two artists modelled after the pair. The front cover will be a young man
playing the trumpet with his eyes crinkled and cheeks blown out, showing he is clearly putting in a lot of effort. Alongside him will be a beautiful woman of a similar age with an old fashioned
microphone singing and smiling and both posed facing each other. The cover story will be about them being up and coming artists in the jazz scene and there will be four photos from the same
photo shoot as the one on the front cover. “Ella” will be wearing a slinky red dress with a classy up-do hair style and “Louis” will be in a black suit with a black bowtie and silk pocket hanky.
Who imagines outfits and ideas?
• Unsurprisingly, the pair decide on most things by themselves as they know the exact direction they want to take in terms of genre, style and tours etc.
• They have a manager (recommended by Sir Tom Jones) and he helps them get where they want to be but the ideas are from Lewis and Ellie. However, they are of course inspired by previous artists to which they are similar in terms of styling.
How did they start their career?• They have a joint YouTube account where they have accumulated millions
of views and subscribers. • Their popularity was heightened by publicity on social media sites and
Tom Jones found them and contacted them. Such an influential showing an interest in you and your music is a big step and it kick started their career.
• Other influential and famous people in the music industry such as Andrew Lloyd Webber and the late Etta James showed an interest in the pair and helped to get them where they are today.
Fans• The following on YouTube was the first contributor
to their fame. Their videos were an international success within months of starting the channel and their clips were shared on numerous different social media sites and only nurtured their growing fame.
• As a result of this they have over a million followers on Twitter and have 2.4 million likes on Facebook.
Quotes from the pair
• “The only thing better than singing is singing some more.”
• “Your background doesn’t matter, your past is irrelevant, it’s the future and where you’re heading that counts.”
• “Everything I play has been influenced by jazz artists before me and I just want to thank them for producing such a wonderful genre.”
