40 years in ItalyIn 2013, MWH celebrates its 40th anniversary in Italy. The current organisational structure results from a series of strategic mergers between some of the most important engineering and consulting firms of the world. In fact, Dagh Watson S.p.A. was founded in 1973, as part of the UK group Watson Hawksley. In 1994, Watson Hawksley merged with the US environmental consulting company James M Mont-gomery, to form Montgomery Watson. In 2001, the company mer-ged with Harza, the hydropower sector global leader, providing consulting and engineering services in the environmental and energy sectors: this is the origin of Montgomery Watson Harza, today known as MWH. In 2007, in Italy, MWH S.p.A. acquired Ambiente e Sicurezza S.r.l. in order to create a new business line offering H&S services.

MWH staff in Italy have developed considerable expertise in executing sustainable energy, infrastructure and environmental projects in Italy and many other Southern, Central and Eastern European countries.Every year, we feature among the top 10 Italian engineering firms ac-cording to the rankings issued by the major trade publication Edilizia e Territorio (Il Sole 24 Ore).Since 2010, MWH has been a member of the scientific committees of the Green Building Council Italia which promotes the LEED certifica-tion for sustainable buildings. Furthermore, the MWH Italy operation is among the companies listed in the National Register of Remediation Operators (cat. 9). It also has an ISO 9001:2008 Certified Quality System and a certi-fication of its Environmental Management System, according to the requirements set forth by ISO 14001. A Safety Management System complying with the standard OHSAS 18001:2007 is also in place. In 2010, MWH received the “Certiquality Excellence” award for suc-cessfully integrating its Quality, Environment and Safety system. The MWH Health and Safety Training Centre – MWH Academy - is certi-fied by Regione Lombardia. .Snapshots of our history
