Skipton Musical Theatre Co presents Sister Act: The Musical!

Sister Act tells the hilarious story of Deloris Van Cartier, a disco diva whose life takes a surprising turn when she witnesses a murder. Under protective custody she is hidden in the one place she won’t be found – a Convent! Disguised as a nun and under the suspicious watch of Mother Superior, Deloris helps her fellow sisters find their voices as she unexpectedly rediscovers her own. A sparkling tribute to the universal power of friendship, sisterhood and music.

Music by Alan Menken. Lyrics by Glenn Slater. Book by Cheri Steinkellner and Bill Steinkellner. Additional book material by Douglas Carter Beane. Based on the Touchstone Pictures motion picture “Sister Act” written by Joseph Howard. Come and see the habits hit the road again and why this fabulous show has been seen by more than 6 million people worldwide. _________________________________ Performance 7.15pm (and 2.15pm on Saturday)Tickets £14, £12 conc (Saturday matinee only)

Our story begins as the Skipton townsfolk had just been swept up in a jovial mood, riding high on a wave of euphoria and smugness. You see, their quaint little town had recently been awarded the honour of being the happiest place to live in the entire Kingdom! And something like that can really inflate property values and bring you one step closer to getting a Waitrose.

Alas, the revelry was short lived as the much loved King Albert was tragically struck down by a runaway lawn mower. From this tragedy, darkness befell the town as the wicked Prince Alexandre ascended to the throne, as his jealous brother watched from the side lines.

Prince Alexandre threw the most regal coronation ever seen and all of the townsfolk were commanded to attend, each bringing with them a high ticket gift (such as a mini-fridge, for example). However, a local beggar woman offered up a single, meagre rose, which the Prince sneered at in contempt. The beggar, enraged, placed a curse upon the Prince, turning him in to a hideous beast! And this is where our tale truly begins...

Join us for jokes, laughter, silliness, songs and a man in a dress for our adaptation of this classic tale._________________________________ Performance Friday 7.30pm, Saturday and Sunday 1pm, 4pmTickets £8 adult, £6 child, £24 family of four

THE QUO EXPERIENCE

‘Good Vibrations’ - arguably the finest pop record of all time, is just one of the many hits you will hear performed 100% live by five professional performers that make up the Beach Boyz Tribute Band. Following the opening number ‘Fun, Fun, Fun’, sit back and enjoy Tommy’s light hearted delivery as the band embark on a fun filled set.

Make no mistake; this show is a party with a stunning soundtrack, a party to which you are invited, so come join the fun and experience what others are still talking about to this day! You will hear hits like I Get Around, God Only Knows, California Girls, Kokomo and many more, in a spectacular array of some 32 songs.

“I shut my eyes and I was listening to the real Beach Boys records!” - Steve, Weymouth Pavilions_________________________________ Performance 7.30pmTickets £18

With The Wilburys never actually going on tour, perhaps partly due to the untimely death of Roy Orbison in 1988, played here by Paul Hopkins, their fans never got to see them all together in a live concert experience. With that in mind, Paul has joined up with five other very talented singers and musicians, who together have formed this incredible Traveling Wilbury tribute show. With an easy relaxed style, excellent vocals and musicality and a great respect for each other’s talent, these guys will give you an amazing night of entertain-ment that will be like nothing you’ve seen before. Enjoy an evening of classic songs from The Wilburys including Handle with Care, The End of the Line, Heading for the Light, The Wilbury Twist, and Rattled, whilst appreciating the hits of the five legendary performers in their own right too.

With such an impressive line-up of seriously experienced musicians and passionate Quo fans, along with an authentic stage show that includes a wall of white Marshall amps and cabs, Mark Bass cabs and the full five-piece Status Quo line up, The Quo Experience is fully armed to take the act as far as is possibly achievable in the tribute industry. The Quo Experience is, however, not just another Status Quo tribute band - it is a chance to experience the sounds and looks of Britain’s biggest singles chart band of all time.

“An excellent show, really capturing the essence of the Quo I played with for thirteen odd years – the attention to detail was awesome!” - Matt Letley, Status Quo drummer (2000-2013)_________________________________ Performance 7.30pmTickets £20, £18 conc

Re-live the sounds of the swinging sixties, as Britain’s No. 1 tribute show brings alive the magic of the sixties, with their tribute to over twenty five bands of that era. The show encompasses everything from that period, from the clothes that were worn, to flashbacks from television history, including: TV programmes, adverts and even clips from the original bands. The Counterfeit Sixties presents a showcase of the great bands of this unforgettable time. The fantastic music of The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, The Who, The Dave Clark Five, The Kinks and The Monkees - to name but a few - all recreated in this stunning show. The band members have performed their unique tribute shows all over the UK and abroad, and have a wide range of experience in that field. The members of the band have individually worked with notable sixties’ artists such as The Searchers, The Ivy League, The Fortunes, The Tremeloes and many more.
