Musical Notes October 2015
2015-2016 OFMA officers (l to r): Paul Burkart (Vice President), Claudia Ferrini (Secretary), Ellen Bertrand (President) and Sherri Kovach (Interim Treasurer)
We have seen some great marching on the field by the “Pride of Olmsted Falls, The Bulldog Marching Band”. Thank you to all the band staff, students and volunteers for your hard work and dedication mak‐ing our band the best it can be.
OFMA’s mission is to support, encourage, advance and cultivate, through volunteerism and fundraising the musical education of all students in the Olmsted Falls City Schools. There are two keys words in that mission statement: volunteerism and fundraising. During this school year, OFMA will host several fundraising events. These events are successful be‐cause of volunteers. I encourage you to volunteer in at least one of our events.
On October 24th and 25th OFMA is partnering with Easter Seals to host a clothing donation drive. I en‐courage the entire “Bulldog Community” to support this event. See flyer inside this newsletter for fur‐ther details of this event.
I invite you to OFMA’s monthly meetings which are held the first Wednesday of every month during the school year at 7 p.m. in the high school choir room. See you at our next meeting on October 7th.
With Bulldog Pride, Ellen Bertrand, OFMA President

Instrumental Lessons Private lessons will be offered this year on flute, clarinet, saxophone, cornet, trumpet, trombone, baritone, tuba, percus-sion, voice, and maybe, depending on the amount of interest, French horn, oboe and bassoon. (Availability of lessons will depend on the number of responses for each instrument.) This is an excellent opportunity to help your child enjoy band and choir more by being able to participate at a higher level than before. All students can greatly benefit from lessons. The ad-vanced player will gain a greater depth of understanding and solo performance while the less experienced player will get a chance to practice the fundamentals they need. Fee is $14.00 for each once a week private lesson. Contact Mr. Feller at 440.427.6333 or [email protected] for more information or to setup lessons for your child.
Private Lessons are a great way to fast forward your child's progress. Lessons are taught one to one, dealing with just your child's skills. Here are some excellent area teachers:
