Audience Feedback Please

After discussing many potential song that we could create a music video for, we finally came to the decision of using a song named ‘Only Girl’ by Rihanna.

When deciding upon this we thought it would be a particularly good video to create, as one did not already exist.

However Rihanna released her video for this song on the 13th of October.

This did not influence our music video ideas as our group already decided upon the narrative and we had a basic idea of what we wanted the video to appear like. This is because we had already done a break down of the lyrics.

Our Song Choice

The Narrative• After listening to the lyrics of this song many times.

We individually brainstormed ideas of what the song was actually portraying.

• We all pick up on the same narrative, this was that a women has become emotionally attached to a man.

• Her characteristic reveal that she is a needy, demanding and possessive woman as she thrives to be the centre of attention and to be in control.

• This is portrayed within the chorus that often repeats ‘I want you to make me feel like I’m the only girl in the world’.

• We have decided that we will not present a visual story within our video.

Locations• After analysing Rihanna’s video to ‘Only Girl’

we found her main location is within a field full of hills, with flowing grass and flowers. It reveals to be very fairy tale like and is beautiful.

• However we have decided to have the main location in a brightly lit room that has a blank canvas. We basically want a big white box to record our video in. This will allow us to implement lighting if necessary.

• We have one other location which will be used to accompany the lyrics of Verse 2. This verse will be shot within a bedroom location.

Our Audience: Do you feel the change in location is necessary? If So why?

Costumes• Within Rihanna’s original video she has

put emphasis on the colour red and presented herself as doll like. This is contrasting to her other videos that have a sense of Gothic within them.

• We do not feel that the image suits the lyrics of her song as she sings it aggressively. This does not accompany her doll like fairly tail image.

Our Style• As our interpretation of the

video will be set mainly within a studio like setting so we want to use bold glamorous but sophisticated costumes.

• This is because they will stand out on the blank canvas.

• For The third verse we have decided to use a motor bike sense and therefore need to use the right costume to accompany this.

Our Audience: ‘What do you think to the image we are trying to portray?’

Make Up

• As Rihanna uses very distinctive and bold make up for example red lip stick.

• We want to go for the more softer look by using more paler colours.

• However the eyes are very important and need to stand out.

• As you can see we have experimented a few ideas.

Our Audience: What do you fink of the pail colours? Should we use bolder ones?
