Indie Rock

Indie RockIndie rock is a genre of alternative rock that originated in the United Kingdom and the United States in the 1980s. Indie rock is extremely diverse, with sub-genres that include indie pop and jangle pop. The typical instruments used are guitars, bass drums and the keyboard.

Examples such as Arctic Monkeys, The Black Keys, Paramore, Fall Out Boy, Haim and Vampire Weekend.

Indie Pop

Indie pop is also a genre of Alternative Rock with a lighter theme. In the UK in the mid-1980s, with its roots in Scottish post-punk bands on the Postcard Records label in the early '80s.Typical instruments include vocals, guitar, bass and drums. Examples are Bastille, Florence and the Machine, Of Monsters & Men, The XX and Foster the People.

Indie Pop
