Although you are accustomed to meeting for class every other day, it is expected that you practice your vocal skills every day. This is a good time to
develop the habit of daily practice, if you have not already done so. As time goes on, I will assist you in further developing a routine that works well
for you. It is hopeful that we will be able to present our Spring Concert later, and if we continue in the practice mode, it will be easily accomplished.
Following is what you should do to establish your daily routine:
• Warm up your voice by singing the major, minor, and chromatic scales. Repeat this process two more times, just as we do in class.
• Next, sing the oo, ah, oo, ah, ooo exercise a couple times
• Practice the Alma Matter (Banneker School Song). You should know the melody. Singing this song allows you to continue with warming up
your voice with a familiar melody. The lyrics are as follows:
To thine image Alma Mater
This our song we sing always
For the truth of wisdom taught us
Banneker thee we praise
Banneker dear Banneker
Loyal we will stay
And the challenges of tomorrow
Will not stand in our way
In addition to your warm up exercises and your singing, you are expected to spend time each day working on your sight reading on the Sight
Reading Factory platform.

VIRTUAL LEARNING ASSIGNMENT 3/16-20
We will continue working on practicing the mosaic and collage style of art.
You have two options:
•Download a free graphic design app on your phone or tablet like Adobe Illustrator Draw, Adobe Photoshop sketch, or Autodesk Sketchbook to create a
digital collage using various images to look like one of the artists we’ve discussed like Romare Bearden, Hannah Hoch, Wengechi Mutu, or David
Hockney. I highly recommend looking those artists up again for visual reference.
OR
• Make a Mosaic on 8.5x11 white paper using magazines, newspapers, junk mail, whatever you have, to create an object or symbol. Even if you don’t
have glue, you can use tape, staples, or make glue with flour and water (look up the recipe 😬)
To submit for a grade, take a picture of your artwork and send to me through email at [email protected] or the files section for our class here in
TEAMS.
I am available to help and answer any questions from 8AM-5PM, M-F. Take good care!
