museumnext 2014 | recollecting the past with ar | museum on the market
DESCRIPTION
Presentation at MuseumNext 2014 in Newcastle, about the virtual museum 'Museum op de Markt' in Spijkenisse (The Netherlands). The 'open air museum' is completely build in augmented reality, features an audiotour and can be seen with an app (iOS/Android) or using the AR telescope installed on the market. During the presentation, we told about the difficulties of generating 3D buildings based on insufficient source material. It turned out presenting the audience with our assumptions in AR, was the best to recollect missing data. Data that was hard to come by with interviews. We dubbed our way of crowdsourcing 'augmented reality elicitation', referencing to the technique of 'photo eliciation' in social sciences.TRANSCRIPT
