Yosemite Middle School Students Help Artist Create Mural on Campus
What: Students help local artist create mural at Yosemite Middle School
When: Friday, June 2, 2017 3:30-4:30 p.m.
Where: Yosemite Middle School 1292 N. Ninth St. (93703)
Students from Yosemite Middle School are assisting local artist Mauro Carrera in creating a mural on campus. The mural was made possible through fundraising during the past year by the school’s MEChA Latino culture club, which raised $1,200. Carrera is an alumnus of Roosevelt High School and has painted murals all over the U.S. and in Mexico City.
The mural will say “Unity, Strength and Justice for All,” and will depict images of graduates, the Sierra Nevada range, the city of Fresno, the school mascot bear, and a heart to represent the care and love the school has for its community. It will also include the word “education” in multiple languages.
“This new mural reflects the hard work of students to raise the money for it, and the pride they have in their campus. Students and staff for years to come will be able to enjoy this original art work,” said Interim Superintendent Bob Nelson.
