  • Now, you can see the Municipal House on the left side of nmst Republiky.

  • The Municipal House is situated in nmst Republiky. It was built in 1912. It was decorated by the greatest Czech painters and carvers. For example: Mikol Ale, Josef Vclav Myslbek, Alfons Mucha etc. Here are lots of assembly rooms and auditoriums which are used for concerts, balls, fashion shows etc. Two very important moments happend here. Independent state of Czechoslovakia was proclaimed here in 1918 and in 1989 Civic Forum had the first meeting with communists here.

  • The National museum

  • How can you get there?When you get out of the Municipal House, youll see the famous theatre Hybernia.Turn right. You are at a big crossroads-go straight to the Na Pkopech Street.The Municipal House

  • Now go straight and turn left at the third turning. You are in the Wenceslas square.Go up-in the middle you see the statue of Saint Wenceslas on a horse.You must go to the underground and go under a big road.   • Recently, I was in the National museum to see the big exposition of stones-it was amazing, there were many stones, big diamonds and others. I also saw an exposition of animals-there were vertebrates-mammals, reptiles, birds, fish and amphibians and also invertebrates-beatles, butterflies...

  • Vyehrad castle

  • From the National museum go by metro C to station Vyehrad. There leave the station and follow the guidepost to the monument.

  • Vyehrad is a cultural monument in Prague. It is a historical fort on a mountain. It has got very interesting history. Vyehrad was built like a princely castle in the second half of 10th century.

  • There is Cathedral of Saint Paul and Peter. Another monument on Vyehrad is Vyehrad graveyard called Slavn, where are buried 54 important personalities (for example : Jaroslav Vrchlick (writer) , Ema Destinov (opera songstress) , Frantiek Kik (inventor) etc.

  • From Vyehrad go by metro C to Ndra Holeovice station and there go by Bus number 112 to Botanick zahrada station.

  • Public transportYou get off at the subway station ndra Holeovice and there go by bus n.112 to the station Botanick zahrada (Prague Botanic Garden).

  • Information In Botanic Garden you can find lots of interesting plants. There are some exhibitions e.g. Small Alpine House, Japanese Garden, exhibitions of Irises etc. Their guides speak English, French, German and Spanish. They have a frame for disabled persons too and always have a great programme. Some days they hold various shows.   • From the Botanic Gardens to the Zoo, go on foot down the Trojsk Street.

  • PRAGUE ZOOThe Zoo in Prague was opened on 28.9.1931. The first animals in our zoo were the wolf Lotta, an aviary with birds and horses. In our zoo there are 4825 animals (652 kinds) and every year visit our Zoo about 1 mil.people. In the year 2002 the zoo was struck by a devastating flood (low-lying parts were under water and many animals died e.g. the seal Gaston, who swam the Vltava river to Drazdany.) In the zoo there are many new buildings too, a new a pavilion with monkeys and orangutans, pavilion with giraffes, tigers, lions, penguins, hippos, elephants and many many other animals. Now there is a new baby of a leopardess.

  • FLOOD 2002In August 2002 Prague was affected by a flood and its range and destructive potential had not been witnessed before. As the Prague zoo is situated right on the bank of the Vltava River, almost half of its area was flooded.

  • This castles standing on the right waterside of the river Vltava.If You want to visit this castle, walk out of the ZOO and opposite the ZOO there is the entrance to Troy castle. (Trojsk zmeek) This castle is a big, baroque building. It was built by the architect Jan Mathey in the years 1679 to 1785. Round about the castle there is a big, gorgeous garden. There are fountains or terracotta vases. The castles neighbours are the Prague ZOO and botanic gardens. To Troy castle belongs a museum of vine and Czech wine. In this museum you get knowledge about Czech wine and its history.

  • Kiks fountain

  • Follow the signs to walk round to Fairground (Vstavit). Kks fountain is in the area of Fairground (Vstavit).

  • Kiks fountain is one of the attractions of Prague. In the year 1891, Czech engineer Frantiek Kik engineered it. The fountain became a jewel of the Fairground (Vstavit). A century later the fountain was renovated in accordance with a plan, which projected the architect Z. Staek.Frantiek Kik

  • Kiks fountain is European unique. You can see there shows with light effects and amazing music and dance. The surrounding amphitheatre is designed for 6000 viewers.
