MultiSIM BLUE – How to Order Introduction Once you have your design complete, you can order parts for your design with a few simple steps - starting with a BOM representing the parts list for your project. By managing your design with MultiSIM BLUE through the “View Project BOM feature”, you can readily access part information, obtain accurate component costs and availability and utilize the links between MultiSIM BLUE and Mouser Electronics online cart to facilitate a quick and efficient ordering process. What is a BOM? A BOM (or Bill of Materials) is a specially formated parts list which contains a variety of details about the components in your design. In MultiSIM BLUE this information includes, among others, manufacturer information, footprint information, part designators (refdes) and most importantly from a procurement standpoint, the orderable Mouser part numbers. The BOM is organized into rows and if you use a single part type multiple times in your design, that component will be group and will show the overall quantity and all asssociated reference designator information for that part will be shown. Ordering Steps In this guide, it is assumed that you’ve completed the design process in MultiSIM BLUE and all component choices have been made using the Mouser database. 1. To generate the BOM from your design from within the MultiSIM BLUE schematic capture environment, go to Reports -> Bill of Materials from the menu system. 2. Select the file icon ( ) and save the BOM as a formatted text file to a selected location. Note if the save location is a folder that is identified in the main MultiSIM BLUE application (selected in settings), the BOM file for the project will automatically populate if the MultiSIM BLUE tool is refreshed. 3. From within main MultiSIM BLUE window, navigate to the BOM you saved for your project (or simply select the BOM if it appears in the dropdown) and press the ‘View Project BOM’ button to open the BOM Viewer.

Ordering Steps In this guide, it is assumed that youve completed the design process in MultiSIM BLUE and all component choices have been made using the Mouser database.

environment, go to Reports -> Bill of Materials from the menu system.

    2. Select the file icon ( ) and save the BOM as a formatted text file to a selected location. Note

if the save location is a folder that is identified in the main MultiSIM BLUE application

(selected in settings), the BOM file for the project will automatically populate if the MultiSIM

must have an internet connection in order to complete this step.

    4. If there are any warnings (due to part lifecycle, insufficient part quantities or other conditions,

a yellow icon will appear next to the row of the parts generating the warning and a message

  • will appear at the bottom of the screen. Clicking on these icons will show additional details

for the affected parts about the circumstances causing the warning.

    5. You can choose to increase the quantity multiplier (Qty. Multiplier x) to determine pricing

levels if you wanted to purchase components for quantity 2 or more projects. Note that the

pricing reflected is for components only and does not show all charges (such as shipping) that

may be required for the purchase.

    6. To accurately price the parts for your project, transfer the BOM to the Mouser online cart
