● The theory of multiple intelligences was developed in 1983 by Dr. Howard Gardner, professor of education at Harvard University. It suggests that the traditional notion of intelligence, based on I.Q. testing, is far too limited.
● Instead, Dr. Gardner proposes eight different intelligences to account for a broader range of human potential in children and adults.
Multiple Intelligences
There are lots of different kinds of smart - word smart, logic smart, picture smart, nature smart, people smart, self smart, music smart, and body smart.
We each have ALL of these kinds of "smarts" but in our own individual combination, with some stronger than others.

According to Gardner, intelligence is:
● All human beings possess all intelligences in varying amounts
● Each person has a different intellectual composition
● These intelligences are located in different areas of the brain and can either work independently or together
● Multiple intelligences can be nurtured and strengthened, or ignored and weakened
● Each individual has nine intelligences (and maybe more to be discovered)
