NEW LITERACIES - What are they and why do we need them ?

How do we extend and if necessary redesign our existing literacy pedagogy

to accommodate the additional literacy skills needed by our students

within technologically rich classrooms

in which students will access and create multimodal digital texts

and engage in new social practices to enhance their learning?

ISSUE: Literacy today is going to be different tomorrow!

‘may include listening, talking, enacting and investigating as well as reading, viewing, writing, designing and producing such texts.’

involves ‘the processing of modes such as images, words, sound, gesture and movement within texts can occur simultaneously and is often cohesive and synchronous.’
