Gain an understanding of mental health issues, expressions of distress and help seeking behaviours
Explore the impact of socio-economic inequality and disadvantage on mental health
Explore mental health issues in ageing populations
Explore cultural diversity and its impact on how mental health is perceived, care sought and received by culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) clients
Develop an understanding of holistic mental health approaches to cultural diversity in aged care
Develop an understanding of acculturation processes and the implications for mental health in ageing populations
Discuss person-centred care and recovery in the mental health aged care context.
