from Mojares’ early work bio-bibliography Resil Mojares is Professor Emiritus at the University of San

Carlos, where he was founding director (1975-1996) of the university’s Cebuano Studies Center. He was been visiting professor at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, University of California-Los Angeles, University of Hawaii, Kyoto University and National University of Singapore. He has received numerous local, national, and international honors for his books and scholarly contributions.

Alburo’s women in literary arts and poetry Erlinda K. Alburo is a teacher, researcher, cultural worker,

heritage advocate, wife and mother. She was director (1996-2011) of the Cebuano Studies Center of the University of San Carlos, where she handles courses in literature, language and culture, and folklore. Her work was included in the exhibit of the World Festival of Women’s poetry at the US library of Congress in November 2008. She is active not only in national organizations but also in local groups women in Literary Arts (WILA), the Akademiyang Bisaya, Hamiling Binilin and the Creative Cebu Council.

Sabanpan-Yu’s continuing commitment Hope S. Yu assumed the directorship of the Cebuano Studies

Center in June 2011 at the University of San Carlos, where she is Full professor. A prolific writer, she is author of four collections of poetry. Her doctoral dissertation, which received Best Dissertation award from the University of the Philippines, was later published by the UP Press as Women’s Common Destiny: maternal representations in the serialized Cebuano fiction of Hilda Montaire and Austregelina Espina-Moore (2009( and was Award for research excellence on April 30,2010. Her other publications include studies of women’s fiction and translations of Cebuano fiction. She has also edited two anthologies of interviews with Cebuano writers.
