Cameron’s Multi-Bowl Wellhead System (MBS) is a compact, unitized wellhead that can be used as an alternative to conventional wellhead systems in onshore and platform applications. The MBS wellhead

offers the following advantages over conventional systems:

• The lower and upper casing heads are installed as a single unit, saving installation time.

• The casing and tubing can be installed, landed and sealed through the BOP stack, increasing safety and saving rig time typically required to remove and reinstall the BOP stack during conventional wellhead installations.

• The MBS wellhead uses many conventional wellhead components and practices.

Components of the MBS wellhead system are based on field-proven technology and offer a range of features.

Lower casing Head

• The lower casing head incorporates a slip-on weld bottom connection with a single O-ring to seal between the casing stub and the casing head ID.

• The lower casing head is available with line pipe threaded, flanged or studded outlets.

• The casing head incorporates a straight-bore design with a 45-degree load shoulder for casing hanger support. This design reduces hoop load on the housing, provides a high hanging capacity and reduces the risk of bowl damage due to drillstem rotation.

uPPer casing sPooL

• The upper casing spool is a straight-bore design.

• The casing spool includes two sets of Type N lock screws to lock down wellhead components. These lock screws are designed with the packing in front of the threads to prevent contamination of the threads by wellbore fluid.

• The spool is available with studded outlets.

casing Hanger

• The MBS casing hanger is a high-capacity, mandrel-type hanger, which is rated to the full joint strength of the suspended casing.

• The hanger is designed with integral flutes which allow cement returns to pass upward through the BOP stack.

Pack-off BusHing

• The MBS pack-off bushing lands on the casing hanger to seal the intermediate casing string(s) and support the following casing or tubing string(s).

• The inner seal on the bushing is a P Seal, which is energized by plastic packing. This seal can be re-energized, if necessary, throughout the life of the well. The outer seal is a radially energized dovetail seal.

• Inner and outer pack-off seals can be externally tested immediately after the pack-off bushing is installed.

TuBing Hangers

• The MBS tubing hanger lands on the pack-off bushing and is locked in place with Type N lockdown screws.

• Several alternative tubing hangers are available, including the coupling (HT and HT-2), tubingless (TLC), mandrel (CXS and T) and dual (MB-CDT and MB-TLC) versions. Control line options are available for most applications. A comparison of these tubing hangers is available on the MBS Tubing Hanger Comparison chart.

• The MBS tubing head adapter provides the connection point for the Christmas tree. It is available in several types to fit specific applications.

• In the event that casing becomes stuck and slips must be set, the upper casing spool can be lifted to install a slip-type hanger, cut off the casing and install the emergency pack-off bushing assembly. This feature eliminates the expensive, time consuming process of cutting pipe inside the head with internal casing cutters.

• Cameron’s MBS system has a complement of installation tools, including BOP test plugs, wear bushings and handling tools.

Compact. Unitized. Field-Proven.
