“MUSEOS VIVOS” is an innovative cooperation project, launched by seven Rural Development Associations / Local Action Groups (LAG) of Castilla y León (Spain), which are jointly responding to a problem that arose during the World Economic Crisis, which caused the lack of public funds to maintain the staff that showed the visitor the ethnographic museums, centers of interpretation of nature and cultural spaces of rural territories, which in previous years had been created to enhance the heritage cultural and natural of these areas.

These LAGs have come together to provide Smart solutions, incorporating in them the new technologies, in their opening and audioguiding systems. This system, given the lack of economic and human resources, will allow tourists and interested to visit the centers 365 days a year.

“Living Museums” has been launched in the spring of 2018 coinciding with the European Year of Cultural Heritage and taking advantage of the momentum of the European Action called “Smart Villages”.

This interterritorial cooperation project has been promoted by LAG ADRI Valladolid Norte in this part of the natural region of Tierra de Campos, by LAG Adecoar y Asopiva in the Burgos region of Arlanza, by LAG Agalsa in Sierra de la Demanda, by LAG Ribera del Duero Burgalesa and the Adeco-Camino LAG, also in the province of Burgos, in the Castrojeriz, Amaya and Camino de Santiago areas; as well as by LAG Segovia-Sur in this area where the Sierra de Guadarrama National Park is also located.
