“Speakers Corner”, a popular feature introduced last year, will be held again. It attracts a wide range of orators and campaigners from the far right to the far left. A bouncy castle and other entertainment for children, including a classic coconut shy will be available. More than 40 stalls have been confirmed and more are expected by fair day. If the weather is poor the festival will be held the next day. The fair is held to help keep Crossways open. It has quickly established itself as a landmark New Year event in the Mt Victoria community where residents catch up with old friends and new-comers can learn what is going on in the neighbourhood. Most local organisations will have stalls at the fair and will be happy to talk about what they do and to sign up new members. Volunteers who can give an hour or more help on the day are still needed. This is a great chance for new residents to get involved in a community activity, whether you are renting short-term or planning to stay for longer.
