Emergency Comfort KitsOnce again, we are sending home a letter requesting that you put together a comfort kit for your child to use in the event of an earthquake or other catastrophic emergency. For those who supplied kits last year, the kits were sent home at the end of the year so you should be able to update the outdated product and letter and send it back in. For families who are new to Mt. Lehman, last year parents had difficulty finding the emergency blankets, but they were finally able to locate the at Canadian Tire. We are hopeful that all students will have a Comfort Kit at the school by the end of October. Thank you for supporting our emergency preparedness efforts.

Terry Fox Run 2012Terry's Marathon of Hope took place in 1980 with the simple objective of informing Canadians of the importance of finding a cure for cancer. With fierce determination, he ran an average of 42 kilometres (26 miles) every day for 143 days. Terry was forced to stop his run on September 1, 1980 when the cancer spread to his lungs.
Learning about and being part of the Terry Fox Run emphasizes that there are indeed real life heroes. It makes students aware of the efforts of a young Canadian who wanted to make a difference. To date, over $500 million has been raised worldwide for cancer research in Terry’s name. In order to help this worthy cause, we are asking each student in our school to donate a “Toonie for Terry”. If you would like to make a greater contribution, we will have pledge sheets available at the school.
The Mt. Lehman Elementary Terry Fox Run will take place on Thursday, September 27th.

We have had complaints from neighbours about parents speeding through the neighbourhood at pick-up and drop-off time. They are also concerned about parents talking on their cell phones while driving.
