2. COMPOSITION/INFORMATION ON INGREDIENTS:

UNSATURATED POLYESTER RESIN Yukalac 157 BQTN-EX SERIES is polymerization-condensation

product of dibasic acids and dihydric alcohols, dissolved in styrene monomer.

3. HAZARDS IDENTIFICATION:

Flammable.

Causes irritation to eyes, skin and respiratory tract.

May be harmful if inhaled or if absorbed through skin.

4. FIRST AID MEASURES:

Inhalation : Move to fresh air. Oxygen or artificial respiration if needed. Consult a

physician after significant exposure.

Skin contact : Wash off immediately with soap and water. Take off immediately all

contaminated clothing. Wash clothing before reuse.

Eye contact : Rinse thoroughly with plenty of water for at least 15 minutes and

consult a physician.

Ingestion : Do not induce vomiting without medical advise.

If conscious, drink plenty of water. Ingest activated charcoal.

Never give anything by mouth to unconscious person.

5. FIRE-FIGHTING MEASURES:

Suitable extinguishing media:

- small fire : use dry chemical or CO2

- large fire : use foam or water spray

6. ACCIDENTAL RELEASE MEASURES:

* In case of spill or leak : Keep people away and upwind. Shut off leak if this can be done without risk. If

necessary to enter spill area, wear self-contained breathing apparatus and full

protective clothing including boots. Contain spilled material, absorb with sand,

earth or vermiculite and sweep up or shovel into dry clean container.

* In case of fire : Small fire : Use dry chemical or CO2.

Large fire : Use foam or water spray. Cool containers exposed to fire

water. Wear self-contained breathing apparatus and full

protective clothing including boots.

7. HANDLING AND STORAGE:

Precautions : Store at temperature below 25C. Protect from heat, humidity and light.

Dangerous substances released/dangerous reactions/preventive measures :

None, if the materials are stored and handled as prescribed.

Protective measures : Protect hand with gloves. Work area must be well-ventilated.

Spill measures : See 'Accidental release measures'.

Disposal : Depending on regulations, by incineration or controlled dumping.

8. EXPOSURE CONTROLS/PERSONAL PROTECTION:

* Engineering measures : Provide appropriate exhaust ventilation at place where styrene vapor is formed.

Ventilation in all normal work areas, whether natural or forced, should be

adequate to keep the atmospheric concentration of styrene vapor under 100 ppm.

Forced ventilation system should be located at the lowest practicable level since

styrene vapor is denser than air.

* Personal protection equipment :

- Respiratory protection : In case of insufficient ventilation wear suitable respiratory equipment.

- Eye protection : Tightly fitting safety goggles.

- Hand protection : Rubber gloves.

- Skin and body protection : Wear as appropriate: apron, boots.

- Hygiene measures : Avoid contact with skin and eyes. Do not breathe styrene vapor.

Wash hands before break and at the end of workday.

10. STABILITY AND REACTIVITY:

Stability : Unsaturated Polyester Resin Yukalac 157 BQTN-EX SERIES may

undergo polymerization if stored and handled not as prescribed.

Hazardous decomposition

product : none under normal use.

Further Information : styrene vapor may form explosive mixture in air.

11. TOXICOLOGICAL INFORMATION:

The presence of styrene in the Unsaturated Polyester Resin Yukalac 157 BQTN-EX SERIES may cause

irritation to eyes, skin and the respiratory tract. An appropriate ventilation must hold styrene concentration

below TLV-TWA and TLV-STEL values prescribed by existing regulations.

12. ECOLOGICAL CONSIDERATIONS:

Styrene:

- Oral LD50(rat) : 4,370 mg/kg, slightly toxic.

- Dermal LD50(rabbit) : greater than 5,010 mg/kg, practically nontoxic.

- Eye irritation(rabbit) : FHSA 10.3 on scale of 110.0 Slightly irritating.

- Skin irritation(rabbit) : FHSA 2.4 on scale of 8.0. Slightly irritating.

- Vapor inhalation(rat) : 4 of 6 rats died during a 6 hours exposure to 3,290 ppm.

13. DISPOSAL CONSIDERATIONS:

* Waste from residues/unused product : Depending on regulations, by incineration or controlled

dumping. The product is a 'hazardous waste' due to its

characteristic of ignitability.

* Contaminated packaging : Wash containers with caustic soda, steam and water to

remove flammable residues before reconditioning or

destroying. Discard in authorized landfill in accordance

with all applicable regulations. Do not incinerate

containers.

14. TRANSPORT INFORMATION:

Flammable liquid. Avoid all ignition sources. Store in accordance with State Regulations.

Protect from heat, humidity and direct sunlight.

Excessive heat will spoil this material.

UNSATURATED POLYESTER RESIN YUKALAC 157 BQTN-EX SERIES have a storage life at least three months if they are stored in the original packing at temperature below 25C.
