MSc Laboratory• All computers in the MSc rooms are

running Windows 7 Enterprise x64• Software installed:– SOPHOS Antivirus– MS Office Professional Plus 2010– MikTeX, GhostScript & GSView, TeXnicCenter,

Nuance PDF Converter– R 3.0.2– MATLAB R2013a– 7-Zip, PuTTY, GNU Emacs– Internet Explorer & Firefox

MSc Laboratory• You are not allowed to install software• If you need any application or

program, contact us• We may install it for you

• Do not bring food or drink into the MSc Labs

• Please keep the rooms tidy

Logging in• Ctrl + Alt + Delete• Type in your username• Type in your password• Domain must always be STATS• Logging in should take up to 30

seconds• First time on each machine will take

a bit longer

Storage & Files• Save your files in your P:\ drive• Your P:\ drive is the same in all

computers• Start > Computer > Home... (P:)• 2 GB quota• Backed up every day• Daily back-ups for a week• Weekly back-ups for three months• This may change if usage changes• To restore we need when & where

Storage & Files• Our file storage services are for

academic purposes only• No music files• No films• No unlicensed software• Any kind of illegal downloads may

result in the suspension of your account; further action may be taken

Storage & Files• Do not save anything large on your

desktop: your Windows profile will fill up and you will not be able to log out

Printing• Use spr1mfp_1 on BLACKWYRM

printer from room 1.207• Use spr2mfp_1 on BLACKWYRM

printer from room 2.205• Printers will use colour unless you

specify B/W• System will ask for your University

Card barcode number; PIN must be empty

Printing• Printing for academic purposes only• Initial quota:– 900 B/W and 100 colour in spr1mfp_1– 300 B/W in spr2mfp_1

• If you need more quota, come to us:– £10 for extra 450 B/W and 50 colour– £10 for extra 100 colour– £10 for extra 700 B/W

Logging out• Log out when you leave the room• Start > Log off• If you cannot log out due to a full

Windows profile:– www.stats.ox.ac.uk/about_us/
