1.4 Pre-construction investigations e.g. bore holes, soil testing?

Yes Detailed exploration in this area for cement grade limestone was carried out by the State Govt. (Directorate of Geology and Mining) with the help of drilling. As the deposit is almost horizontally bedded, vertical boreholes were drilled in a square grid pattern of 300 m x 300 m. A total of 40 boreholes were drilled with a total meterage of 1190.05 m in the applied area for ML (29 boreholes is within the lease area & 11 boreholes is out of lease area).

with source of information data Afforestation will be carried out in 3.60 Ha area which covers the safety zone of 7.5 m width all along the lease boundary in first five years. In the next plan period’s plantation on and around the dump slopes will be carried out to stabilize them. Yearly approximately 1250 saplings of the local species like Mahua, Babool, Mango, Guava, Jamun etc. will be planted in the proposed area. Afforestation will be 18.0 Ha till the end of the mine life.

1.11 Dredging? No 1.12 Offshore structures? No 1.13 Production and manufacturing

processes? Yes The production of limestone shall involve

excavation of the limestone i.e., drilling, blasting, sizing, loading & transportation.

1.14 Facilities for storage of goods or materials?

Yes Mine waste (subgrade ROM limestone/ chips) will be stacked in eastern and southern part of the lease area. To accommodate this waste material, an area is earmarked for the life of the mine. As the low grade Limestone will be blended with the high grade Limestone simultaneously therefore, no larger area will be required for mine waste (i.e. low grade limestone & chips). A 10 ton capacity permanent magazine will be provided for the storage of explosive.

1.15 Facilities for treatment or disposal of solid waste or liquid effluents?

Yes OB/soil material will be dumped along the periphery of the lease area over 7.5 m wide statutory barrier. There is no generation of effluents by mining or allied activities. Liquid effluents from the work shop will be treated in the oil/ grease separation plant and recirculated. Oil/ grease will be stored in impervious containers and sold to authorized vendors.

(IV) Proposed Terms of Reference for EIA studies Environmental monitoring will be done to obtain present environmental

status of the study area for the present project. The EIA will be prepared based on the environmental monitoring data being generated for the post monsoon season (period of 3 months) from October to December 2015. The proposed terms of reference on the basis of which the EIA will be prepared are given below:

The scope of EIA/EMP study will be as follows. 1.0 DATA GENERATION Baseline environmental data will be generated by MOEF recognised/ NABL

accredited laboratory Min Mec Consultancy Pvt. Ltd., New Delhi as given in Table 1.

within 10.0 km radius (buffer zone), both of which comprise the ‘study area’. The following data, through field survey and other sources, will be collected by the Consultancy firm for preparing the EIA/EMP for the proposed mine with related facilities:

i Details of fauna (wild and domestic), flora within a distance of 10 km

from the project site (including forest details).

ii Major habitat within 10 km radius.

iii Major industries within 10 km radius.

vii Relevant meteorological data, for previous decades from India Meteorological Department (IMD)

viii Study of present environmental protection and mitigation measures in nearby operating similar projects, if any.

ix Geo-hydrological aspects based on available data from various secondary sources.

x Identification of water bodies, hills, roads etc. within 10.0 km radius and collecting data regarding discharge of streams and flood levels etc. from existing records, if any river lies in study area.

4.0 PREPARATION OF EMP The EMP will include the following details a. Study of the reports like Geological report, FR or approved mining plan

for mine available with the client regarding the project. b. Present Environmental Setting The base line data being generated and collected as per para 1.0 and

2.0 will be used to establish the present environmental scenario. c. Identification, prediction and evaluation of Anticipated

Environmental Impacts due to the Proposed Mine and related facilities.

The environmental impacts will be anticipated in core and buffer zone on:

- Topography

- Climate

- Water Quality (Surface/ Ground)

- Hydro-geological Regime

- Air quality

- Noise Levels

Relevant guidelines as per Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) Notification issued in 2006 under the Environment (Protection) Act, 1986, standard TORs and the EIA manuals available on the MOEF website will be kept in mind while spelling out impact & its mitigation measures. The experience of similar project(s) will be made use of for envisaging the pollution control measures by pronouncing the success in the past.

The following aspects will be covered: i. Reclamation of disturbed areas, to the extent feasible

ii. Measures to control the surface and ground water pollution due to surface runoff and discharges

iii. Measures to control air pollution due to proposed activities/ operation.

iv. Green belt development plan and identification of flora species which can be planted in and around the project

v. Measures to control noise pollution and mitigate adverse impact on workers and habitat in core and buffer zone

vi. Pronounce the improvement in socio-economic conditions and benefits the people will get on implementation of the project

vii. Measures to control health hazard of workers and surrounding population.

viii. Total and specific cost of implementation of control measures

ix. Environmental monitoring, implementation organization and feedback mechanism to effect mid course corrections.
