Morning Procedures• Put your backpack

away and take your supplies (pencil, books, homework) for the day.

• Take a pencil leave a pencil.

• One person will sharpen pencils each afternoon before dismissal.

• Be quiet during ANY announcement throughout the day.

• Stand up for pledge and place your right hand over your heart.

Monday-Computer

(Bring running shoes, not boots or dress shoes)

Wednesday –Library

Lunch 11:40-12:10

Tardy• Don’t make it a habit to be tardy! Excessive Tardies may result in staying for After-school Tutorials to make up the time.

• Stop by the office first to pick your tardy slip. (You will not be allowed in the classroom without it).

• Please ask your group what we are doing and catch up.

Morning Procedures• Take out your daily

journal and begin your Bell Work.

• Make sure all of your homework is Stacked (placed in the middle) of centers. One person will place in Incoming Work.

LibraryYou need to take your book and your AR folder and password.

Check out a book that is within your reading range.

Otherwise you will need to get special permission from the librarian or myself to check out the book.

Listening and Responding to ?’s

• Please raise your hand when I ask you if there are any questions.

• Do not interrupt me while I or another speaker is trying to teach you.

• When you are working in centers, ask three, then ask me!

• Try to use complete sentences when you ask a question. You will become a better listener and writer.

• Show me three when making a statement or asking a question.

Participating in Class Discussions

• We will have many of these!

• These are to be shared by all.

• I will randomly select you!

• Be prepared to discuss our lesson at the end of each class.

• Please let me know if you like something and why. If you don’t and why.

• Stay on task and focused during these times.

• Different people will come in during the day and ask you if you know what you are doing, so stay on task! You can use the objectives chart to help.

When you need Paper or Pencil

• You will know where the paper is located or any other supplies.

• Do not be wasteful.

• If I see you wasting paper (paper planes or games). You will write a letter to your parents explaining why you are wasting their money and your time.

Keeping your desk orderly• Your desk is a reflection

of yourself.• What do I mean?• If your desk is nice and

clean, then you are well organized and ready for success!

• Keep all of your Hard Books in your cubby.

• Keep all of your spirals on one the left side, and your notebook on the right.

• DO NOT SHARPEN YOUR PENCIL AND LEAVE THE SHAVINTS IN YOUR DESK.

Checking out Classroom Materials

• You might need to check something out occasionally. There will be someone assigned to have a check out book. You will need to check it out. Some books cannot be checked out.

• Library books need to be taken good care of and returned. If not, then your library privileges will be suspended.

Coming to Attention• Please be quiet when

there is an announcement.

• Please be prepared for a Fire Drill (be very quiet) during and after.

• Remain seated or in group quietly if someone comes in to speak to me. BE VERY COURTEOUS.

• Line Up. I will let you know when you can line up. This will depend on how your group is doing and working.

– Line up at the yellow tape.

– One person, per square,

– Show me five when you are walking in line.

Absences• Attendance is critical

and will be taken twice a day.

• Students with less than 90% attendance will not be allowed to attend field trips, parties or Hawgie Relays.

• Students with Perfect Attendance will be rewarded.

• Fungeons & Dungeons• Armband to Spinach

Festival

When you are absent…• Each Group will take

turns on a person for the week.

• This person will staple if needed and write down the person’s name on the assignments. They will place it in the Absent Folder for the person and leave it in the Absent Basket in the assigned number.

• If you are absent then you need to take a note to the front office before class starts.

Working Cooperatively• You will be working with

groups or pairs.• You will most likely not

pick who you are working with.

• You are expected to work quietly and also with courtesy.

• You will also be pair sharing.

• If I am working with a group or an individual student. Ask three then ask me.

• I may not be able to answer you if I am working one on one.

• You will receive an individual grade as well as a group grade, so you need to work!

Keeping your Notebook• Each subject will have

a different notebook or spiral.

• Some material will be collected and left in one specific place in the classroom.

Going to the Office or Nurse

• Don’t ask to go to the Nurse, unless you really need to go.

• If you take medication, you will go before or after lunch with another student.

• Please remind me to take your medication with me during Field Trip days.

Knowing the schedule for the day.

• We usually follow the same schedule week to week.

• If something changes, I will let you know.

• I will try to post a daily schedule of what we are doing, so that you stay on task.

• If you think that we can change the schedule for better results see me.

Directions for each assignment

• I will usually teach it in a Whole Group.

• You will then work in Cooperative groups.

• Ask three then ask me.

• You need to stay on task, so that you know what the assignment is and how it needs to look.

• You will place your finished assignments and place in certain places (usual). Or you will stack (middle of center) and turn in.

Getting Materials without disrupting others

• Materials will usually be in the same location.

• There will be Group leaders that will handle the distribution of Materials. We will take turns.

• You may not disrupt your group or any other group. You will need to ask your group leader.

Bathroom Breaks

You are expected to be quiet, stay in line, and be courteous. No loud talking or pushing allowed.

You are not allowed to take cell phones or pens into bathroom log.

You will be allowed to go to the restroom once in the morning and once in the afternoon. Sign out on the restroom log.

Please report any unsafe behavior in the restroom to me.

Computer Center• You will be assigned

a seat for the remainder of the year.

• You are expected to learn your passwords.

• You will keep a binder with your passwords for Computer Center.

• You WILL NOT TALK, OR DISTRUPT ANYONE!

• You are expected to finish your assignment.

• Do not ask to go to the bathroom.

When you Finish Early

• Your work needs to be checked again.

• You can then take out your library book and read it.

• You can work on your composition.

• You can work on unfinished work that you may have.

• You may be asked to tutor someone.

• I will make sure that you finished your work properly.

• You may be assigned to work on something for me.

Walking in the hall during class time.

• You are a reflection of your classroom.

• Therefore, you are expected to behave maturely.

• Show respect and courtesy to others.

• How do they do this?• They greet adults by

saying hello or goodbye in a quiet and polite manner.

• They are QUIET and Respectful of other’s learning time.

• They show great MANNERS! They are not loud and do not run down the halls. They do not destruct other people’s property or classwork.

Fire drills or Lockdowns

• Be Quiet• Do not panic!!!• Get up and get in a

line.• Walk down the hall

quietly.• Walk outside keeping

together quietly.

• Do not talk at ANY TIME DURING THE FIRE DRILL.

• Walk back together and quietly.

• Sit down and continue working quietly.

When visitors are in the classroom

• Stay on task!• Be quiet• Ask your group if you

are not sure what we are doing.

• Look up to the board and read the objective and why we are learning what we are learning.

• Be courteous and respectful to the visitor.

• If he or she is asking you a question, answer it the best you can. If you don’t understand their question, let them know that you don’t understand it. Smile and be your pleasant self.

• Let them know what you are learning and why you like it. Also, how it will help you in your life.

If the teacher is out of the room…

• Stay where you are assigned to at that time.

• Be quiet• Be courteous• Do not walk around the room• Remember to act appropriately at all

times!

If the teacher is absent

• Follow the daily routine.• Assist the substitute.• Listen to the substitute.• Follow the subs. directions.• Do not do anything that I would not

approve of.• Help, help, help

Saying Please and Thank You

• This two words are called the “MAGIC WORDS”. These will make Me happy, but most of all keep you happy.

• Remember to use them.• Remember to use your

best manners.• Remember to eat with

your mouth closed.• Remember to say Excuse

me when you burp or fart. EVERYONE DOES THESE!

• Remember to not take anything that does not belong to you.

• Remember to keep your toys at home.

Recess Do and Do Nots• Do have a great time.• Do not walk up the slide, or you will be

asked to sit out.• Do not stay under a swing.• Do not play tackle football.• Do not play any games where touching is

involved.• Do not PUSH, HIT, SLAP, CURSE, or BULLY

ANYONE!

Field Trips

• Stay with your partner.• BE VERY QUIET ON THE BUS.• Be courteous, respectful, and very

clean on Field Trip days.• Stay with your partner!!!

Cafeteria Assemblies• Walk down quietly.• Sit where I ask you to.• Don’t be talking during an event.• If you think that person is going to get you

off task, then sit with another.• Raise your hand, pay attention, and

participate!• Clap for the presenter after the

presentation.

What to expect…

• I will assign you ZAP on Friday’s if you do not do your homework.

• I will ask you to come to tutoring if you need it

• I will have MANY CONVERSATIONS with your parent’s and principal about you and what you are doing.

• I WILL HELP YOU WHEN YOU NEED IT!• I WILL ENCOURAGE YOU AND KEEP YOU SAFE!

Bullying

• Bullying is not allowed in our school.

• If we someone being bully we try to stop it if we can, or go for help right away.

(You can always write me a note if you do not want to be overheard).

Discipline

• Character Log

• 3 Demerits = Afterschool Detention

• Excellent Behavior earns you Starbucks and entrance into festivals.

Birthday Parties

• Only On Fridays

• Only Store – Bought Items
