Ms. Kuri Ouri, Advisor on Energy in Bhutan Power Cooperation completed her three years assignment in Bhutan and left for Japan on 20th June, 2011

Three JOCV’s completed their two years assignment in Bhutan and left for Japan on 20th June, 20111. Mr. Masayuki Nomura, IT instructor in Royal Institute of Management2. Mr. Akihiro Yoshikawa, Civil Engineer in Dzongkhag Engineering Section, Tashigang Dzongkhag3. Mr. Takuya Asaishi, Instructor for Hydro System and Construction Machinery in CDCL, Mongar

One JOCV completed his assignment in Bhutan for two years and six months and left for Japan on 4th July, 20111. Mr. Takeshi Nishimoto, Water Analyst, National Environment Commission.

One Senior Volunteer completed his two years and six months assignment in Bhutan and left for Japan on 11th July, 20111. Mr. Kazuhiro Muramatsu, lecturer in Digital Communication at College of Science and Technology, P/ling, Chhukha.

Five new long term JOCV’s arrived in Bhutan for their two years assignment on 21st June 20111. Mr. Kazuyuki Nagasaki, JOCV, Water Analyst, Research Monitoring and Statistic Section, Nation Environment Commission2. Mr. Akihiro Nitta, JOCV, PE Instructor in Mongar Lower Secondary School3. Ms. Rika Tateno, JOCV, PE Instructor in Khanglung Primary School4. Ms. Eriko Tokita, PE Instructor in Gedu Higher Secondary School5. Ms. Yoshie Hirano, PE Instructor in Drukgyel Lower Secondary School

One new short term JOCV arrived in Bhutan for his six months assignment on 21st June 20111. Mr. Keijirou Kamiya, Music Instructor in Kilu Music School

One new short term Expert arrived in Bhutan for his eight months assignment on 11th July 20111. Mr. Satoshi Yamanaka, Expert for Horticulture Project in RNR-RDC, Wengkhar, Mongar

After serving for seven years with JICA Bhutan Office, Ms. Yeshi Wangmo left the office on 30th July 2011.Ms. Sushma Hingmang joined on 25th July 2011 as a new receptionist.

JAAB Matsutake Mushroom Festival 2011

JICA Alumni Association of Bhutan (JAAB) can’t think of not celebrating the Matsutake Festival with the season on, more so respecting the delicacy being one of the most coveted items of our Japanese friends. For 2011, the Matsutake Festival was scheduled on 23rd August, 2011 in front of the JICA Country Office.

This year’s celebration was graced by the visiting team mem-bers of Japan-Bhutan Friendship Association. The 20-member team is led by the former Ambassador Mr. Yasukuni Enoki, who has come to Bhutan to celebrate the 30th year of the Association. The team was in Bhutan from 21st August – 28th August 2011.

High officials from the Royal Government of Bhutan, includ-ing Hon’ble Agriculture Minister, Lyonpo Pema Gyamtsho, Hon’ble Agriculture Secretary, Dasho Sherub Gyaltshen and Hon’ble GNHC Secretary, Dasho Karma Tshiteem also took part in the event, apart from 35 JICA/ JOCV members and 10 JAAB members.
